Apparently the guy is too hot to touch this year. So bring him onto the support staff, get a feel for things, and let the public get used to the idea. Everything that I’ve heard is that Ensminger doesn’t really want the job anyway, so you tell him, “hey, just take it for a year while the public warms up to the idea of Freeze.” After a year, you send Ensminger back to TE coach, which is what he wants anyway, and you promote Freeze. This gives Freeze a chance to start rehabilitating his image, and it would give O some cover from the public fallout from the Ensminger hire.

The nuns and priests at the LSU compliance won't allow sinners in the LSU football program.

Wait, so hire Freeze and don’t let him be OC. How dumb. The issue is hiring him in General, not hiring him as OC

BOS squashed the hire not because they didn't want him as our OC.

They squashed it because they don't want him near the LSU brand.

Not happening

I disagree. Saban did the same thing with Sark. There is precedent for this, and it is a win/win for both parties.

Surely the guy isn’t expected to wander in the wilderness forever. He would be a consultant, not a coach. It’s a no-brainer.

Saban did it because Kiffin was going to be out the door in 1 year, not because of issues. Saban has more stroke than anyone else at Bama. He decides who gets hired, not the BOS

at this point I don't want O to make any of the right moves because I want him to fricking tank and we can move on to Aranda.

Sark was damaged goods when Saban (wisely) brought him in. Freeze is the same, and he will only be on support staff. Spin it in a way that is acceptable to the public (he won’t be recruiting, etc.) If the BOS won’t sign off on this then it is pretty clear that we can’t have nice things anymore.

I will cry when this inevitably happens. Saban is smart enough to hire him just so no one else in the SEC would be able to.

You do know that Freeze has more dirt on his hands than just the hooker thing?
Hire Freeze and the NCAA books a long term rental in Baton Rouge.

He had some recruiting screw-ups, but nothing unforgivable. LINK

“The NCAA report said Freeze "fell short of his monitoring responsibilities when members of his staff committed intentional violations and deliberately involved boosters in the recruitment of prized prospects."

But a positive for Freeze was the NCAA found he promoted an atmosphere of compliance after initially alleging he didn't.

The NCAA gave Freeze a two-game suspension, which he'll serve whenever he becomes a head coach. But the NCAA also cleared him immediately to coach if he became an assistant.“
