is full of $h!T.

Not that I'm against LSU hiring Canada. However, I'd be willing to put money that Canada was not a part of the original plan. I don't see Ogeron presenting his case, vision, etc. with Canada as one of the main targets.

Which is really concerning. If you have a vision/plan and you are already throwing it out the window, then there really never was one. This type of disorganization will come to roost.

so, it will be real interesting to see who the guy is. If it's Canada, then I think it's more concerning even though this board will be happy. It tells me there is no vision, no plan, and things are being run on the fly to appease fans. This type of disorganization will eventually harm the program more than a temporary fix by hiring a hot name.

Exactly.

Lucking into a potential good hire is not the recipe for success.

Plan A was obviously to hire Lane but he got a head coaching job.

On to Plan B

The plan was to hire the best OC in the nation possible. Does Canada, Helfrich, or Sarkisian not fit that bill?

He took one of the worst head coaching jobs in the country rather than come to LSU.

If Ed thought Kiffin was the best, well that's Problem #1.

Problem #2 is if he was Kiffin's top target and O still couldn't bring him in.

"The best" is certainly relative but someone with a history of verifiable success over a long stretch of time, commitment to devising unique approaches to the game through whatever they view as a creative offense, etc. Canada may be a good hire, but I don't know if he's the best in the business yet.

Dylan and Allen were also part of the "plan".

O wants the best OC. The only OC as the Broyles Award Finalist was Canada making him the best.

Lane taking the fricking FAU job tells me plan a was never truly on the table. That's a problem

he was hired as a HC! Correct me if I am wrong but HC>OC?

available is the key...Kiffin now has a HC job and is no longer the best available OC

It isn't that simple.

One great season doesn't make Michael Jordan the best. It's the 6 championships that do.

The amount of people who can rise to the top over a short span in any sport or even profession is enormous. The amount of people who do it year in and year out over multiple seasons, years, or whatever.... those are the best.

Canada is potentially a good hire, but he isn't in "the best" conversation. Yet.
