We are about to find out about Woodward. He could have squashed

the Riley rumors if he didn't want to look bad. But he didn't. That either means they were true, or that he has a guy he thinks is better than Riley on the line. Because letting the Riley rumors play out means whoever he ultimately hires will be directly compared to Riley.

How often have you heard him speak publicly? He doesn't care what any of us think of him. He may already have someone that's agreed to the job. None of us know what's going on. Some of yall need to get a hold of yourselves and stop melting all over the place. At least wait until someone is hired to freak out.

Woodward's "genius" was in finding 12M/yr to offer. That's nothing to ignore. Nobody has been able to get that kind of backing.
Unfortunately, the guy he targeted for that money said no.
Woodward doesn't have a coach waiting in the wings to take that 12M/yr offer.
The hire we make won't get that kind of deal. And, Woodward is still going to have a few big enemies because of the money he pulled together to buy out Orgeron.

When does an AD ever comment on a coaching search, especially to squash a rumor? What world do you live in.

Who knows if Riley was even seriously considered? All we have are so called media pundits and internet message board insiders, and I use that term loosely.

I think he’s saying he could have leaked that LSU is not interested. But there were some saying that. Like Feldman and GG. But GG ended up correcting himself.
I’m all honesty, are we mad that Woodward tried to get Riley? Is that not what he’s supposed to do? Y’all would be mad either way. If he pursues him and gets turned down is a better outcome than not pursuing at all.

Woodward has 350 ways to communicate this - he can tell a few boosters something. He can have verge tell some boosters. He can tell dellwnger or any media guy off the record. He can have direct quotes. Are you guys really having trouble figuring out how he could hAve squashed this?
There are tons of ways he doesn’t hAve to have a quote.

Especially when 99% of the rumors originated from, and were only talked about, on fan message boards.
What do you want Woodward to even say? "That tigerbaitlawyer and random CVS pharmacist on tigerdroppings.com have been spreading false rumors, and I'm here to deny their Riley to LSU claims since I know my smart, level-headed, and logical fans will believe a couple random posters and go crazy with the whole thing."
Lol, no logical AD is even reading this - or any - fan message board and taking it seriously. A logical AD would also assume that everyone in his fanbase wouldn't fall for random posters claiming inside sources, when everyone knows how tight-lipped these things are.
They don't know what it's like to just be a random fan, all they know is that they've kept everything on the downlow and there should be no reason for random rumors to be running wild out there in the world of the internet.

It was big enough for Riley to be asked about it Tuesday and last night. Don’t I yourself that the AD isn’t aware of it.

Are you really having trouble figuring out the 350 other reasons why he wouldn't come out and squash an unsubstantiated message board rumor? When has an AD EVER done that?
Most ADs don't even come out and squash rumors that have made it past the message board stage, like a reporter claiming to have a source saying such and such. They just sit back quietly and let it play out, then leak a little right before the actual announcement is made.
They don't owe it to you, or anyone, to stop you from getting your hopes up based on fake insiders on a message board. That's not their job

Oh come on. It was enough of a thing that OU's rivals played "Calling Baton Rouge" and the first question in his press conference was about the LSU job. I don't know why so many people are obsessed with calling it a "message board rumor" when it was clearly much more than that.
