Derek Carr was a pro bowler under him.

TBH, i think peetz was in over his head with play calling duties, and there has to be some good in him, possibly keeping him on staff to be an assistant, just not calling plays

With a more experienced coordinator in place, there is the potential for Peetz to serve in a role similar to what Brady did, not necessarily calling plays on 3rd down and the red zone, but to bring the same modern offense concepts in to enhance the scheme. If Kelly keeps him on, it’s likely he sees that possibility.

Kelly has been running a “modern” offense since before it was the cool thing to do. He doesn’t really need someone to bring in “modern” concepts

.My thoughts exactly.

I didn’t mean to imply that Kelly doesn’t already employ a “modern” offense, only that there are a variety of flavors of “modern” offenses. LSU achieved heights on offense in 2019 no other major program has, including Kelly’s. Certainly much of that was the players, but IF Kelly keeps Peetz around he must see some new wrinkles in there that can expand upon what he already does.

Quick cliff notes?

Idk.
But, I believe Brady and Peet's being fired in same off season, they can now go back to William and Mary College and figure this coaching thing out again??

Nobody was coaching Maximus up. He hit his ceiling already and is limited physically. He'll be a good game manager at best rest of his NCAA career.

Max got worse under Pootz.

I'm not sure you can say he got worse this year.

He sure was required to do a lot more in this year's offense than the last two games last year.

I was glad we won the last two games last year, but I never thought Johnson looked particularly good. He certainly made a few plays to help us win, but for the most part he was pretty mediocre.

One contributes to the other, no?

If Pootz was a good QB coach then Max would’ve played in a system that made him look better, I would think

I don't think so. I think that's more the offensive coordinator tailoring the offense to fit the personnel. So, I'll say Peetz didn't do a good job with this, but I wonder how much latitude he really had. Orgeron seemed hell bent on running the Joe Brady offense, so maybe simplifying the offense was a nonstarter with O.

I think it's obvious Peetz was over his head with play calling. Beyond that I don't know how good of a coach he is. It's kind of hard to judge given how many unknown variables there are.

I will say, Brian Kelly seems like a pretty smart guy and a good coach. If he thinks Peetz is worth keeping around, I'll just trust him until it's proven otherwise.

Oh really? Max WAY overachieved. Well enough to get a spot at aTm. Unlike Brennan who had to stay or go to USM.

I never had an issue with Peetz besides when they designed a play that would have Max Johnson running to his right. It was clear he had no idea how to throw while running to his right. It’s already an awkward throw and on top of that Max couldn’t figure out how to throw it and not take a sack.

Once he stopped with those plays I was fine with him. I genuinely believe max was the main issue. He wasn’t accurate nor did he have the arm. You have to have at least one of those things and he had neither. I wasn’t happy with him being named the starter once Myles broke his arm. I knew from watching him how weird his throwing motion was and how weak his arm was from 2020 but he did have 3 solid games so I was like how bad could it be. But woof was it bad. Nearly any qb can put up his stats if you’re throwing 40 times a game. LSU threw more than 35 times in a game once from like 2010-2018. Before burrow and before we updated our offense we never threw that much. So his stats are padded because of that. I think peetz was decent but got forked by the transfers, injuries and meddling.

If LSU hires Denbrock, there won’t be a QB coach in the building.

Kelly will have to hire somebody to fill that role.

USM wasn’t Brennan’s only option. And Aggie wanted max Bc it meant they get the brother too.
