Lot of youngsters here have no idea how good of a DC Phillips is

Wade was so good at coaching defense that he kept getting head coaching jobs even after flaming out as a HC.

He was still producing Top 5 defenses within the last decade in both Houston and Denver.

He was nearly 70 and had been a HC for three different teams. Most coaches are washed up long before then, but Wade was still turning around defenses.

He probably has a little more left in his tank. Dick LeBeau coached until nearly 80.

People can joke all they want but he is better than EVERY DC in football and it isn’t close. That is all football at all levels. He is a HoF as a DC.
Just go look at his defenses.

You think he wants to recruit
who gives a shite about him recruiting. He could zoom recruit. He IS the best - ask 3 time defensive player of the year JJ Watt. Ask the league. Plus Ed Orgeron is supposed to be a master recruiter so Wade would not have to. You people that make comments like this are ignorant. Relating to this BS or that BS. Let him show them those pics of the HoF players he coached. That’s enough.

Great guy. We used to hang around with him in the old Jefferson Downs Racetrack days.

There was a time when he was one of the best defensive minds out there, but now we are not going to trade one dinosaur for another. 10 years ago, yes.

do you even follow football? He will not last long on the market BECAUSE HE IS BETTER THAN ALL OF THEM - both in college and Pros. Name me 1 better over the last fricking decade. Romeo was great. He couldn’t carry Wade’s jock.

I-20 Goon you won't get it until you get to that age but when me father was 90 he said he felt like an eighteen yr old trapped in an old body. I'm 63 and feel like a twenty something guy in a twenty something body.
Your opinion about old will change, I promise. I know plenty 73 yr. olds that are sharp as a tack. Now you wanna meet me at the Sonic??, LMAO

Wade would be a great DC. This guy can simply coach lights out on defense. And he brings NFL credibility to recruiting. He can just pull out a list of all of the pro bowlers and hall of fame defensive players he has coached.

Seriously, LSU could do much worse than Wade Phillips.

Orgeron said he now wants to be multiple, so the WP 3-4 would work and the 3-4 athletes are already in place.

The Ryan Clark nuclear meltdown would be an awesome spectacle to behold as an added bonus.

Make it happen Ed and Scott!
