So, this isn't the same group that swore in blood Gruden was at Calhoun's, or is it?

How could a place where expectations are lower be a bigger job?

Mullen can coast at MSU without worrying about being canned. At Tennessee he's going to have to produce in year two. I say expectations are too high at UT because I think other schools have stronger recruiting bases where the expectations are the same.

He already has. Dude is getting paid 5 mil per, about to go to probably 6 because he knows he has a team next year that can legitimately compete.

I know this happens every year and we say it every damn year, but that's why I doubt him leaving to UT or anywhere else. Has 15 mil left on contract and you would have to pay him north of 6 mil/year.

Problem there is he's only worth 6 mil to us, he's priced himself out of other jobs. His only way out is winning a ring so other programs aren't scared away by the ROI. UT can hire a whole shite load of coaches who can win 8-9 per in the East for a lot less money, so you're really making a huge gamble by paying that money to a guy who hasn't proven he can do more.

TL/DR: Lots of guys can win 9+ games in 3 of 4 years at UT in the East. Only one in the history of the program has proven he can do that at State. Which makes him worth more to us than his open market value. He has us by the nads.

Officially.

They said Mullen and Sexton have let Currie know that he is very interested in Tennessee. Also, Currie is planning on announcing Tennessee's hire next Monday.

I don't think you would have read this if were actually true

This. Tenn being a dumpster fire since Fulmer has played a role in letting Bama dominate the SEC since Saban. Us LSU fans (and the rest of the SECw) need to be rooting for the Vols to get it right: they play Bama every year and recruit the same areas. A good Tennessee program hurts Bama, at least a little. Go get Mullen, Vols. Hell, go get Belichick.

You made abysmal hires. Kiffin could do it. Durkin, Frost, hell Cut would probably manage 9 wins in that division.

The state of Tennessee is producing lots of very good talent now, especially mid-state. They can also pull from regional talent pools too. A good HC & staff can recruit very well at UT.

Exactly.

There are a few things that really do tell you if a poster has a clue about SEC schools as a whole when they comment. TN's inability to recruit because of the historic state talent is one major one. ANYONE that says UT can't get recruits due to it is absolutely not a credible opinion. Middle TN may just now be rising, but UT has had a national recruiting machine for decades and decades to levels of very few schools. UT recruits fine, and just needs a coach capable of doing so on a regional/national level.

Mullen now saying he will be ringing bells in Starkville for the salvation army all day Friday.

No fret Vols, there is enough Mullen to go around, apparently we have created you a clone so he can be two places at once.
