I want him to succeed but man. A few things rubbed me the wrong way. Especially him saying out of the gate that his son is going to be the quarterback without even stepping foot on campus. And then saying they have a few positions already taken care of with players they’re bringing with him. If I was one of the players on that team, I’m out. And I get he says that’s what he wants but you need to keep some of those players on for depth

He's going to have to learn what it takes to win at that level. He kept things real loose at Jackson state and he's not going to able to do that as much at a larger school with serious money behind it. A lot of things that took guys like Ed O decades to learn, will be introduced to Deion on the fly.

A source at Colorado tells me over 200 recruits and portal transfers have reached out in the last 12 hours.

Some of them are 4 and 5-star caliber players. Deion Sanders has a chance to make some noise before Signing Day.

NIL money is also rolling in, I'm told.

Yeah after he had said “that’s my son. He’s your quarterback”.

This video was BEFORE he announced he was taking the Colorado job.

You'd be a fool to think Shedeur isn't going to be the starter at Colorado. If I'm a QB at Colorado right now I'm hitting the transfer portal and looking around. Shedeur is a P5 quality player though, as is his other son, Shilo Sanders, the safety who was originally at South Carolina before transferring to Jackson State. The only problem is he's used his free transfer already.

Travis Hunter will also be an easy starter.

Deion's coordinators at JSU will be analysts at Colorado. I've heard that from JSU people.

Deion has some good coaches on his staff that have D-1 and NFL experience. His DC was a defensive coordinator in the NFL with the Jets & Bills, so I doubt he’s gonna make a gut with that much experience and analyst.

I also know Tim Brewster is on his staff. Brewster used to be the MN Golden Gophers head coach. He’s been an assistant at UNC, Miss State, and Florida, so he’s got some experience.

I think deion will have colorado competitive at the very least.

Well that's great. I've followed him loosely. He's going to try and build a culture that supports and appeals to the current athlete but he's going to run into a few hurdles with trying to control every aspect of the program like he did at Jackson St.

You have to view his success in a vacuum at Jackson St. He had better athletes than his peer programs. He controlled all levers of the program. He created a bubble. Those players bought into that bubble...the athlete he recruited to JSU isn't the same level athlete he will need to buy in on a consistent basis and he's gonna have to understand that control doesn't directly translate to success.

Maybe he gets it done. Who knows. If you're a veteran coach do you go hitch your wagon to such an inexperienced head coach? With a program that seems to face more barriers than most academically?

It's a tall task. Lots of moving parts. Lots of barriers academically. Goodluck and wish him the best.

That’s going to backfire on him so bad. Colorado apparently has very strict transfer rules for incoming student athletes. It’s going to be a big issue in the portal era with them

CU Admins at introductory presser also announced they were loosening transfer rules.

I'm sure Deion played a part in that.

e may not win a NC there but changes have already been made within hours of his hiring.

His talk to the team was cringe worthy and embarrassing. He obviously didn't think that through.

So is Saban and he stacked his rosters for 15 years.

Saban is also very detailed oriented person who controls every aspect of his program. He is also an amazing de free bar coach. Deion checks one box and that is he brings hype and some recruits.

I honestly don't get that messaging. Maybe it's a "lets see who really wants to be here"? Someone fill me in.

he basically said, "you're trash, you know you're trash, and you're going to be replaced."

you have to if to if you go 1-11.

who cares if they want to be there. if they're not any good, it doesn't help his cause. so get 'em out and go through the lumps until you build up the number of guys that can contribute.

Deion will fail at CU, he's a great motivational speaker at best who could pull a few decent players to the JKST and it allowed him to out play the other SWAC teams. He wont have that same advantage at a P5 school and his gimmick wont fly on half of these kids.
