Sources: USC working toward a deal to make Todd Orlando defensive coordinator. Orlando was defensive coordinator at Texas, Houston, Utah State and FIU. He brings a history of strong performances/improvements in Year 1.

you know, if USC can avoid historic rates of injuries, they should be players for the Pac10 title next year

Harrell/Orlando is a good coordinator pairing

Helton is like the more religious and better spoken version of Orgeron at this point. he just needs to recruit

"we need a guy I can toss under the bus to give me another year next offseason"

"todd orlando is available"

they definitely have some nice pieces in place offensively, but that's dependent on that graham harrell interview with the eagles

I know I've said "that's a good hire" about several hires this off-season, but I've followed Todd Orlando's career since his FIU days. Until he got to Texas, his defenses were all top notch. I think he'll do ok at USC, but Helton is on borrowed time so this is probably just a one year deal. Hard to build a system in one year.

USC finished 12th in the Pac-12 this year in recruiting, behind Oregon State and Washington State.

This is the equivalent of Alabama finishing last in the SEC behind Vanderbilt and Kentucky in recruiting.

Helton is fricked and he knows it. The AD tried to fire him this year, and the president intervened and gave him another year. He's a dead man walking.

Could he save himself with a great season? Sure, but highly unlikely.

Yeah. It's not like Aranda recommended him TO Herman or anything.

Oh wait, he did.

Todd Orlando is a "Guru"

that's why i brought it up

he should bring copies of that report that his buyout is so big USC can't afford it to fight off that negative recruiting

That truly blows my mind how is that even possible? USC gets first dibs on most all highly touted California recruits. It’s like you’d have to try and fail to finish last.

The kids and their parents know that Helton is dookie. There's a reason lifelong USC fans like DJ Uiagaleilie go to Clemson instead of USC. That reason is Clay Helton.

Saban recommended that LSU hire Houston Nutt.

3 players in the top 25 in California stayed in state. Two to USC and one to Stanford.

That’s sad.

Arizona State got 5, Washington got 4, Oregon got 3, Georgia and Alabama got 2.

USC is running out of Pete Carroll era guys. They’ve been trying to recreate that era for a decade

Next top candidate will be a ball boy who once shook Pete’s hand in 2005
