Unrealistic? I think expecting a bowl game and .500 record in year 3 is a pretty standard expectation for any respectable program.

Our expectations aren’t as unrealistic as you assume them to be. There’s no reason why Nebraska can’t do what Wisconsin is currently doing. None.

I think Frost is a hell of a coach. If UF has zero shot at him then I am glad he will at least stay out of the SEC.

I know he won’t stay at UCF forever but I wonder how much of a factor traveling for recruiting has to be for a guy with a young family. Where does Nebraska pull most of its recruits from?

Madison is a cool arse town not to far from some good talent population.

Is lincoln? Serious question.

Also, to add what nebraska doesnt...WI is a sports state. Has every major pro sport. The draw to WI is just way higher than to NE. Ie...Cold as phuck in WI sounds WAY better than cold as phuck in NE.

I would think his point to doing what WI has on the O-line could be true as I would think they have plenty of big uglies in state to choose from. Which is a big part, but it's the "athletes" they'll have trouble pulling. (disclaimer...on the up and up of course)

Frosts connections in florida helps, but he is going to need to get diamond in the rough 3*s to come up to NE. Player dev, finding a way to keep them from getting homesick, and time will be required at minimum.

Nebraska can still pull in top recruits. Heck, Mike Riley was doing a solid job getting recruits nationwide. Frost will do very well there. It's much harder to win nowadays at schools like NU, ND, Mich, etc but it can be done.

He’ll have to travel some to recruit at any major program. But the head coach isn’t on the road every other week - that’s on his position coaches

But is it good enough to get them to a level that WI is at like was mentioned? At a consistent level.

Player dev, and time is what Frost will need. Helps he is a NE guy. But something that not many have is a Barry Alvaraz at AD. He is a big factor from being a HC there, and he owns the AD by not letting boosters go crazy.

By all accounts our new (AD) is an excellent hire. I've been really impressed with him so far, and I have faith that he'll get us back on track. I expect almost immediate improvement once Frost takes over. This team has plenty of talent, but no fire or passion. I expect that to change very quickly. We have a brutal schedule next year but I still think we'll show vast improvement. Heck, Pelini couldn't recruit worth a damn, and he was still managing 9 wins a year every year he was there. The B1G West isn't that tough.

Our current QB (Tanner Lee) is from Jesuit (played at Tulane). Our top receiver (Stanley Morgan Jr.) played at St. Aug. Ameer Abdullah was from Alabama. Our freshman WR (JD Spielman) who will likely be a freshman All-American is from Minnesota. We pulled the #1 rated HS QBs out of California (Patrick O'Brien & Tristan Gebbia) the past two years. We get guys from all over. Texas, Florida, Missouri, you name it.

I liked Pelini, but his schtick wore thin. He wasn't showing any progress, and his temper tantrums and blowout losses on national TV were embarrassing. It was time for him to go. There's a reason why no other major school has picked him up, despite the fact that he never won less than 9 games in a season at Nebraska.
Good assessment, imo.

New AD kind of thing would still be concerning. Boosters, and Tom Osborne meddling is a huge factor that just trickles. Happens at all schools.

Anyway, I really do enjoy watching big10 football, so would be great to see NE be Leaders in the big10 west.

Other than having an 80% smaller population base and no significant success on the football field in the lifetime of their next recruiting class.

Well, Osborne is Frost's hero, so in this case, it's a blessing. I'm sure Osborne has spoken to Frost directly and voiced his wishes.

Solich went 11-2 in his third year and took the Huskers to the Big 12 CG and the Rose Bowl. You fired him after year 6 when he went 9-3.

Pellini went 10-4 in year 3 and also took his team to the CG. He was fired after his 7th season, despite never winning fewer than 9 games and finishing 2nd or higher in his division 6 out of 7 years.

Do you expect Frost to be better than the two guys you fired?

Over the past decade, Nebraska has more wins than Auburn. The difference is that we haven't won any championships.

Unrealistic expectations? I can tell you've never been around Nebraska fans or their program. They're pretty realistic and patient folks
