And the folks in charge of this thing seem to be just as reactionary as our fanbase. Going to be a long 2-3 months.

Yeah don't hire the guy that has averaged 11 wins per as a head coach and put 4 QB's in the 1st rd of the draft. One of the things people fail to realize is FSU won't give Jimbo $$$ for assistants. Guess who was his DC the year he won the NC...Jeremy Pruitt who took a lateral move to GA and doubled his salary.

Where are you guys getting this "info"? FSU has a top 10 staff budget. And IF he's not getting enough, whose fault is it that he can't work with the administration? Judging by Jimbo's salary, FSU wants to win.

Love the excuses though guys, keep them coming. Can't wait to see what you come up with when the Noles finish 7-5 this year.

Their highest assistant is paid 583k a year. They have 3 making that. Our DC makes twice what The Noles pay.

LINK

The money for FSU’s assistants is much more spread out. While each of the six schools ahead of Florida State – LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, Clemson – each have at least one assistant making more than $1 million, the Seminoles’ highest paid assistants – DC Charles Kelly, co-OC/QB coach Randy Sanders and assistant head coach/OL coach Rick Trickett – each earn a base salary of $583,000.

So now the story is Jimbo has the money for assistants, but he's not distributing it well enough to have a top staff? Or he's not working with the administration to get what he needs? Still sounds like Jimbo's fault.

Your hard on to name O head coach is preventing you from being objective. You think Jimbo sucks as a head coach and is a has been. I guess your entitled to your opinion.

Until the last two years the ACC was a joke. Not counting 2013 those FSU teams would have been 4-4 in the SEC east. He might be fired real soon if keeps this season up.

I would love for O to get the job, but not just because I like him and he's from here. He just needs to keep doing what he's doing, saying what he's saying, and putting a product on the field that I enjoy watching. I think he will do a better job of that than Jimbo, partly because there is no one who wants the job more, and partly because Jimbo just doesn't look all that great.

I never said he sucks, I'm just saying he's nowhere near as special as this board believes.

and he consistently loses his best coaches to SEC schools that can double their salary. It's a fact.

You have been arguing for like three pages that he sucks - it doesn't matter if you never said it outright. He can't beat shitty teams, all his success is due to the fact that the acc is weak and he had Winston for three years.

- If LSU passes on Jimbo for some unknown it would be a terrible decision.

Please, tell me more about how Jimbo is failing to maintain a top 10 staff with top 10 money.

Yes it matters, because I don't think he sucks. He just isn't great.

Do you have a rebuttal for this?

Winston only played for 2, but yeah they play a weak schedule every year. But again, rebuttal?

An 'unknown' like Herman at a power 5?

Ya, like Herman. He is a really hot name with very high upside - so it is more worth the risk for him - and has two a lot of experience. But passing on Jimbo for nearly anyone else not named Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh, a variety of NFL names, etc. would be a terrible decision.

Show me what coaches not listed above don't lose to shitty teams. OSU lost to VaTech the year they won the CFP Championship i believe.

Show me another coach not named Saban, Meyer, Jimbo, etc. that has a similar record against superior competition.

I don't get the appeal of a "hot name" with "upside". For every hot name that works out, two more fizzle out.

It's just hilarious to me that people put Jimbo on a list with those other guys.

Everybody loses to a shitty team occasionally, no doubt. But Jimbo has shown a very Miles-esque tendency to consistently struggle against inferior teams.

I've said before in this thread, it's not about records. It's about how the teams play. Again, see Miles' record.

Well I definitely wish you were in charge of the coach search for LSU.

I'm just trying to help you guys see the things you're looking past. If I see some questionable performances or decisions by O, I'll point them out, too. I just can't fault the guy for what he did a decade ago.

LSU fans believe that throwing money at coordinators means you automatically put together a top staff. They've seen it work well first hand the past few years

Yeah I bet you do! And thank God he is not!!! Jimbo is my number 1 choice. Contrary to some popular opinions there is some brain power at LSU and its not all Alleva's decision. He is answering to the money people. I like how LSU has gone about this so far. I am cautiously optimistic the powers that be will make a good decision between Jimbo, Herman or someone else.

Our staff on defensive side has definitely not been the problem. The issue was at OC and CLM who had burnt out and could no longer adapt. What happened to Miles is the same thing that happened to Mack Brown and Fulmer. The ending was not nearly as good as the middle or the beginning.
