it may not be the sexy name you thought you'd get, but I think you had your sights set to high.

Set too high? Tuberville has expressed interest in the position. Lew Perkins sent out an email to KU fans saying that he was going to get a big name in here.
I have nothing against Gill, but he jumped the gun way too early with this hire.
The good thing is, Gill can recruit on a national level, and he has Big XII ties. I have no problem with Gill, but to say "home run" is a bit too much.
With that said, if he can get guys from south Florida, specifically the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area, and other areas in the southeast to sign with Buffalo, I have confidence he can do the same at KU. We've already established a pipeline to Texas, and we had a solid recruiting class last season. Here's to hoping he can build upon what Mangino started.

At least we won't have to worry about him jumping ship for something better in a few years. If he can establish himself at KU and build them into something, he'll stick around for a while. KU can match just about any contract out there, and Lawrence is a nice place to be.

I would've preferred Tubs too. And after getting blue balls over Harbuagh, Gill doesn't seem nearly as sexy (I mean this in a hetero way).

da frick? if he goes to 2 bcs bowls in the next 5 or 6 years at KU he will be the next coach at ______ (fill in big time program)
i doubt KU can/will open up the check book to the tune of $6 mil per for a football coach (hell at current inflation of football coaches it may be $8mil)

Come on Brad. KU is a stepping stone job. It's a basketball school, just like UNC and UNC has more resources and better climate. That is no shot at Kansas. I think Gill is a good hire. He played in that area and probably has some good ties. I think it is a very good hire for Kansas.

The good thing is you guys are getting a quality human being and a good football coach.Mangino had his moments as a coach but turned out to be nothing more than a sadistic bully to his players.
Getting one of Nebraska`s all time greats can`t hurt.

KU should have kept Mangino. I mean he only got them to, and won, an Orange Bowl.

Why would he want to jump ship after 5-6 years if he builds the program into something? Where else would he go besides Nebraska? You underestimate the size of KU's checkbook.

T player mutiny resulting from being too much of a disciplinarian like choking out players was the primary factor, not on the field results.
