U High graduate. Played on their 88 state championship team with Loup, Banta, Staid. Hell of a team. All state defensive end.

Northern Iowa is usually pretty good in football and basketball.

Better than doing the lazy in house hire.

Fritz and a few others pushed hard for the lazy in house hire. Thats how it often happens, because then they can seize more power for themselves.

Always go outside.

I read his resume - before this stop, he was Asst AD at some big schools. Could be a nice hire instead of retread.

Y'all should already be negotiating to give him a bigger salary.

Tulane has five 10 win seasons in their history ( 1931, 1934, 1998, 2022, 2023) and Fritz owns two of them.

Not sure its about salary for him at this point

Might want to try somewhere where your ceiling is higher than hoping to sneak into a NY6 bowl

He's 63 and will be 64 going into next season. I'm not sure there are too many P5 schools where he'd have a real chance to make the playoff that would be willing to try him out at this point.

I know Georgia Tech tried last year and I wish A&M would look at him but aside from a few ACC schools and maybe Baylor I don't know where he'd have a legitimate chance to do bigger things. It would almost have to be this season or never for him to move on to a place where he might actually be able to make the playoff.

Tulane will be getting 2 P5s a year the next few seasons so as long as he can split those and win the conference they would have a pretty good chance at making the playoff as the 5th highest ranked conference winner.

Either way, I’d still be trying to up his contract to at minimum make a potential buyout as beneficial to Tulane as possible.

Sounds like a solid hire.

If Fritz leaves, this guy will find someone to keep momentum.

I doubt this will be a Chris Scelfo or Michael Desormeaux complete screw up.

That Chris Scelfo hire was complete BS. Rich Rod was the OC for Tommy Bowden during that undefeated season before he bolted for Clemson and recommended Rich Rod for the job...Rich Rod was considered an offensive guru at the time and had the players and the system to keep Tulane going. Dumb arse AD Sandy Barber decided to not follow that advice and brought in Scelfo from GA. The local media destroyed her for that along with many boosters....she was either let go or bouced on her own. She hit the homerun hire by bringing in Tommy Bowden which added to the craziness of not following his advice and shitting the bed with Scelfo!!

I thought she wanted RR and Cowen overruled her?

He told her to make the hire and kinda be the 'fall person' for the hire. They knew the hire would go over like a fart in church and after the 99 season she left. He helped her get her next gig (Notre Dame associate A.D.) in 2000.
