L. O. L

Right. A place he's coached before, a place he got his masters degree from, a place that is measurably easier to win at compared to a team - any team - in the SECW is not viewed better to him than a place that doesn't boast those attributes? Ok.

You may get the guy. You may not. He may fail to meet expectations at a big place like LSU in the way so many of the hottest coaches available in recent years have. He may succeed. At any rate, the constant threads about it trying to convince yourselves and others of this are a bit much. Just let the next 6 weeks play out.

So far, the Big 12 is having a hard time getting into the CFB playoffs (see: 2014 TCU/Baylor and 2016 everyone). Might play a factor.

Tom Herman is a certified genius. He probably does view the jobs as equal in a vacuum. They both have equally good chances to win titles in a 5-10 year span

That doesn't mean the schools are equal in his mind and that he is 50/50 on which job to take if both are offered

The actual jobs are the same. But Austin is a much nicer city, which gives UT an edge.

Ill give the city an edge however as a coach his biggest want is to have as much success as possible. LSU is completely stocked full with talent on both sides of the ball. We have a damn strong defense (coached by a friend of Herman), damn strong recruiting staff and we also just happen to have a vacancy for an offensive coordinator. Herman's good friend (currently his OC) has ties to Baton Rouge. LSU pays well and especially pays its assistants well. There are alot of things to factor in obviously but if immediate and continuous success is what Herman is looking for, without a doubt LSU has the edge.

Personally I think the stability of the administrations will be a big factor. The respective ADs and presidents, support/pressure surrounding the schools.

It might. But I would think it's easier to go undefeated or have one loss in the Big 12 instead of the SEC, especially the west right now.

I listened to that segment as well. Does that arrogance angle surrounding Texas line up with what your sources say also?

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but what is he supposed to say? He's not dumb! You play either side against the other to secure the maximum contract possible. So you play poker and claim you don't have a favorite even though he probably does. Could be either job but you don't announce it. The only thing you CAN read into that is if you're Houston, he gone!

I'd argue it would be as easy if not easier to do it at LSU.

Much easier to win a Natty when you are the big dog in a weak conference. They'll never have a schedule as tough as LSU.

How many Big 12 teams have played in the playoffs? How many are in contention this year?

I'll wait.

Post right above yours, from an LSU fan no less, acknowledges that path would be easier at Texas than LSU, but whatever.

quote:

How many Big 12 teams have played in the playoffs?

One. Oklahoma. Same # in that conference as in Pac.

How many have made it from SEC? ONE. Bama. If Bama didn't make it in 2014 or 2015 no other SEC team would have made it either year.

If Herman - or anyone - can win the Big 12 with 1 or fewer loses then they are going to the playoffs.

Does the LSU job allow you to rub elbows with Presidents of the United States, have a movie star alum as one of your biggest fans, have Fortune 500 CEOs and oil bucks to build at the drop of a hat (if you win), have your own television network and have "TEXAS" in big fricking letters emblazoned across everything you wear?

well, that settles it. Herman to UT to rub elbow with Obama

Yeah, that's why everyone is standing in line to go to TEXAS.
