Jimmy Ott just said this on Sports Today and I can confirm this is 100% correct.

It's almost funny because he said he got it from a source in the know. My source said the same thing. I don't think we have the same source tho

It's not from a competitive standpoint. They can offer more money and Austin is a better city. It depends what he wants out of his next job.

I think he ends up at USC still.

I'd argue it would be as easy if not easier to do it at LSU.

They can offer more money but they haven't thus far.

Honestly my biggest worry is the Austin angle with his wife and her socialite predilections.

Yeah, if he has NFL aspirations, he could take our talent, win immediately, and bounce pretty soon. If he wants a statue and to finish raising his kids(does he have any?) in the best place possible, UT is probably the way to go.

Everybody keeps saying LSU's biggest problem is that we play Bama and Saban every year and Herman would rather take the Texas job because it would be easier to get to the NC game. Well what if Herman wants to beat the best of the best? What if he wants the opportunity to beat Saban every year? What if he wants to prove he is the best college coach? Maybe LSU is exactly where he wants to be. I don't want a coach who would take another job because it would mean he didn't have to face Nick Saban.

I dont know what his future aspirations are, but if he is focused on being an NFL coach soon, do we want really want him? I would rather not get him as a coach if he is only going to stay for 2 or 3 years and bolt for the NFL. Why go through all of this again so soon?

This is kind of my point. The great coaches don't think like message board posters do in terms of "why would he go there, x place is easier." Further, people with genius IQs definitely don't think that way. These people have, naturally, large Egos.

I really like your posts and believed them. But if you're Jimmy freakin Ott, I no longer care what you say. Go get some gambling addiction help.

Cross your fingers, everyone.

Everybody thought Urban was a lock for Notre Dame in 2004...till he wasn't.

Didn’t he also say something about Texas having problems with arrogance and boosters and Herman was aware of this.
