This is my feeling as well for State.

My concern is the opportunity cost of not hiring Pruitt.

While I think Moorhead may be the better hire, I suspect it would be difficult to keep him while I think Pruitt could stay here for a while.

I don't envy Cohen's responsibility.

Morehead has a great HC record, but at an FCS school.

If Pruitt was successful he'd be beating down the doors for a Bama interview as soon as Saban retires. We're gonna have difficulty holding onto whoever we get if they're successful. We got really lucky with Mullen

I would be fine with any of the above. I’m liking how Cohen went about this search.

State fans will unite around whoever is our next supreme leader and that is a huge positive for our program building off Mullen’s success

Moorhead has already said that his wife loves Starkville and he would never leave not even for a bajillion dollars.

Morehead is a brilliant guy. Outstanding modern OC acumen that's the rigjt fit for MSU, and plenty of HC experience, tho at a small school. He's been the difference maker at PSU. Stability on the offensive side is more critical than defensive side. With Pruitt or Venables, you could have W/L success disruptions due to OC turnover.

This is 100% how I feel. The "emerging" programs over the last few years have all pretty much been high-powered offenses. Stability and continuity on the offensive side is much harder to maintain when you're relying solely on a revolving door of OCs. With Pruitt, we'd be one bad OC hire away from a multi-year slump, and we'd be guaranteed to have to roll that die every few years while we're successful.

Moorhead is a home run, head coaching experience, OC at a powerhouse school, big time recruiting experience.

He definitely wouldn't be their first call. Let's not forget Dabo has a ring.
