From footballscoop.com

"Tennessee: Our sources tell us AD Mike Hamilton is researching Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen. We have also heard an unbelievable name for the Tennessee job. Not sure how we can get this one confirmed, but a source close to this particular head coach tells us, “Trust me. If Tennessee offers, it will happen.” This would be a HUGE splash hire for the Vols."

Nick. He likes to build 'em up, not maintain 'em.

The Sporting News is now reporting that Hamilton reached out to Gruden, but was turned down.

Yeah, I would go with Butch Davis or Jon Gruden.

Would certainly be a huge splash, no doubt, but I really feel Spurrier's best days are behind him.

I wouldn't think so. I mean, he's out of a job.

yeah, Leach doesn't come to mind when I read that paragraph.

Based on the hit he has taken, I don't look at that as a "big name, big splash" hire.

If anything, you're getting rid of one laughing stock of a coach for another laughing stock of a coach. Not a very good fit for Tennessee right now IMO.

I will guess Rich Rod, Les Miles, Frank Beamer, Bo Pelini or Jim Harbaugh.

Outside of that, either Paterno or Bobby Bowden.
