If he turns us down then we go back to looking at Orgeron and Fisher. He seems like a lot safer pick now than he did yesterday and his upside is way higher than either Fisher or Orgeron.

The big knock on Herman before was he would either be a boom or bust hire. But I think it's safe to say now that he won't be a bust.

Plus the Texas issue was looming. But looking more and more like Strong is going to stay at TexaS.

THE WHOLE KISSING ISSUE CAN BE DEALT WITH IN INTERVIEWS AND IN NEGOTIATIONS. I'm sure it can be written in the contract that it will be limited to certain situations

I'm gonna start writing letters to the Texas AD about how we should keep Charlie Strong and give him at least 2 more seasons.

Why is it looking like Strong is staying at Texas?

We should go after Herman and Jimbo and whichever one accepts first wants to be here more, and gets the job. LSU could shop them against each other and have some negotiating power for a change. Who cares if Texas wants Herman? We've got a much better situation if he wants to win championships. I hate how people are acting like we have to settle for Texas leftovers. What have they done this decade besides suck.

Exactly but it's the Louisiana mentality. It's why the state will always be behind its potential because this is the way leadership thinks.

Here's a big risk with Herman that I don't think LSU wants to deal with. He's a young coach with virtually no ties to LSU. If he were to have great success here, who's not to say that he starts looking for a "better" job -- Texas, NFL, ect. It would possibly be Saban all over. Every year LSU would be held hostage by their coach.

Fisher is probably far less likely to jump ship. He's in his early 50's and is currently at a major power conf. school. He doesn't need to come to LSU if he has aspirations to coach in the NFL or at another power conf. program. He could make that jump from FSU. He also doesn't have a big time alma mater (like Michigan) to contend with. Unless, of course, he's using LSU as a stepping stone to Samford

Herman may be the bigger "boom" candidate. But there is also more of a risk that you might have to replace him in 2-4 years. Fisher probably gives you more stability.

so Herman loses to Navy and SMU (yes, Navy and SMU) and most fans jump of the Herman train. Herman beats Louisville and fans jump back on the Herman train. Is this a Flavor of the Week contest?

The people that wanted Herman would still want him even with a loss last night. Myself included.

All great coaches and programs lose game they are supposed to now and then. This should define how good of a coach he is. Hell, if that were the case, then Ohio State should fire Urban Meyer for losing to Penn State a few weeks ago.

Herman should option #1, Fisher Option #2. I still have this feeling that Herman might end up at Oregon if LSU is not interested.

Unfortunately, our "All In" pales in comparison to Texas' "All In".

Texas has these advantages:

- More money
- Much, much better city
- More historical football program
- Herman got his masters there
- Herman has lived a ton of his life in Texas
- Herman currently lives and recruits in Texas
- Much, much more money
