They must be waiting for DC hire, but I have a hard time coming up with reasons not to keep this guy around.

Yes, seems like a guy who can fit in with any DC

Carter is under contract another year. He’s here until they say he’s not

I think they want to keep maximum flexibility on the DC hire. They don’t want to limit what position he covers. If the best DC candidate covers DL, then they want to be able to go that route.

Logical guess on reason for lots of positions still up in the air. He seems to be doing an excellent job though.

Guess we’ll see what happens with DC.

Yes keep him. The D-L played well no matter who was in there.

Sure.
My only concern would be the development of Roy. He did not look improved to me. Same athleticism but not as quick. Great body/proportions but I think he was a little heavy.
If it appears that the same happens with Maason this year I would wonder what's what.
Like on Bradford/Thomas I'll be looking to see if the new nutrition/S&C makes a visible difference in performance.

I understand the desire to change the culture… but considering Davis, Carter and Baker were in their first year were they ingrained in it?

And they would know if any of the problem children are back this year and how to treat them. On that side of the ball anyway.
The The whole offense looks to me like it's gonna get torn down then built back up. Wide open for PT.

He is also a guy with skins on the wall that will get the respect of recruits and players.

Whether it's those three or some combination of them/none of them at all, we should see who's got some recruiting chops from the portal. We need depth at each of their positions. (more CB than S obviously)

The fact he was still grinding on the trail and landed Quency Wiggins despite his job status being up in the air plus that the d-line played well this year tells you everything you need to know about Andre Carter as a coach & a man. He definitely needs to be part of this staff going forward

I think Andre and Blake Baker did a great job of getting more out of their units. I would be stoked if they both stay. I hope we move to coaches who can develop vs recruiters. With NIL, recruiters are less valuable vs big boosters. All you need now is a bag man.

I would like that if it's what happens.
We keep saying on the boards that Jones showed the aptitude to--and did--improve over the course of the season...
But Carter cut his teeth at the same time and I think we are probably overlooking the possibility that he too improved over the course of his first season. We've felt the pain, it would be too bad if we don't get to reap a little of the fruit of their hard work.
