That would be pretty enticing actually.

Come on, dude. This isn't monopoly money we're talking about here. That's a substantial amount of money he'd be leaving on the table for a job with shared duties.

Did you not see the sentence about 3 million before that? I swear some of y’all can’t read.

Of course I saw that part. The weather and food part was dumb as frick though.

He's not getting $3 million at lsu so the entire premise is off from the start. It would likely be a difference of less than a million a year. $1.5 vs $2.5 is a much more realistic scenario and I still think $2.5 is an unlikely offer from lsu. Hope I am wrong though

I agree

I'd say more like 1.2 vs 2.5, but even if the difference is "just" $1 million, the difference is still ONE MILLION DOLLARS! That's a very significant difference. I know he's probably got a long future ahead of him, but that's life-changing money. It's not like he made money in the NFL.

If his goal is P5 head coach, sole DC at LSU is closer to that than co DC at OSU anyway. At OSU, he's going from coaching under Fickel, to sharing responsibility with someone else. In neither case does he get to shine. At Cincinnati people are unsure how much of the defensive success is Freeman and how much is Fickel and it would be the same at OSU in a co DC role.

He’s not coming to LSU. Has enough resume to get a HC gig

Maybe a mid-tier G5 job. He could probably get the Cincy gig if he stays there, and it’s a top G5 job.

If he wants to go straight to a P5 job, he’s going to have to step up in weight class. We give him that opportunity.

I wouldn’t be so sure. I heard that we offered him 2.8 and he turned it down. We upped to 3. We’ll see.

LSU can certainly pay him more but hes on his way to a big pay day as a HC in a year or so anyway.

What HC position is the cincy DC going to land? He needs one more big name stop.

Maybe a Cincy if Fickel gets a better job

No you didn’t but I bet it felt cool for you to type it on a message board...

I can promise you with every fiber I’m my being LSU didn’t offer 2.8 million to any coordinator with an 8.7 million dollar tag on a head coach. Nor did they offer 3....nor would Marcus freeman turn down 2.8.

fricking hilarious

That may be so, but there is only one opening left in college and that’s at Boise State. Freeman would not get a HC offer until the end of next year at the soonest, and he could greatly increase those options by turning around the LSU def. in one year.

Is OSU set on paying two DCs again? I have no idea how they set up their staff but why hire another co-DC?

OSU likes doing the co-coordinator stuff so if one leaves then they have someone who knows the defense/offense.

I love freeman and would happily make him the DC alone, but that's not how OSU does it (In name at least)

Those are all good points, but I am curious how much if any of the title ix investigation is hurting our chances with potential targets like Freeman.

I'm sure the Title IX stuff is way more of a factor than the weather and the food

But seriously, based on the "insiders" and actions by the admin regarding letting Orgeron bring in a new staff, it seems he's going to survive the title IX investigation.

I really don’t wanna go to Cindy right now just to throw cash at a man I’ve never met.

Even if he survives I would think that coaches would still be very hesitant due to the fact we could be hit more fines/sanctions from the NCAA. Not saying it will happen, but I would think twice if I was an up and coming coach about taking a job at a school that may be under sanctions for the next couple years, if I am trying to further my career ASAP.

Again I hope I am wrong and maybe this is my brain just preparing for the worst and ultimately being pleasantly surprised. Just playing devil's advocate here.

What's the latest word from them on the title ix stuff? Last I heard it was bad and more stuff was going to come out. I think that was TBL who said that. Also that O and Woodward were not getting along at all. Seemed grim when that stuff was being said back in November/December. Has there been a new update?
