Like Cincinnati? If Luke Fickell graduates to a P5 this year or next, there's 0 doubt Freeman is his replacement.

Where is he going? He wants a B10 job and none of the good ones are opening this off-season unless Harbaugh leaves Michigan on his own for the NFL, which is possible. But if that doesn’t happen, Fickell stays put.

There are rumors Mattison who is co-DC at OSU will retire after this season.

Have to think Freeman will be getting a call from his alma mater if that happens. He makes 1.1 at OSU so Freeman could make $1 million or so.

He could probably make double that at LSU.

Is OSU set on paying two DCs again? I have no idea how they set up their staff but why hire another co-DC?

Share the calls at you alma mater. For a mill.

Or make close to 3 million. Enjoy better weather. Better food. Equal talent.

Wait for a head job you want.

That would be pretty enticing actually. I mean think about it if you were in his position and LSU was offering you a job vs OSU. Even if OSU is paying more that alma mater aspect will play a large role in your decision.

That's all a matter of perspective man. He was born, played, and coached in Ohio. He would get a HC offer at OSU or LSU if he is successful.

I hate to be a downer but I am just having a hard time seeing us pull this one off. If we do it would be epic though.

You think a football coach is going to give one frick about either of these when deciding which job to take?

Did you not see the sentence about 3 million before that? I swear some of y’all can’t read.

I know right. The extra 2 million is the main reason. Everything else I named is just extras.

Then the dude proceeds to break down the perks and not address the additional 2 million in income.

He did a great job with lesser talent that we have. Given even better pure athlete's, he should be able to put on a clinic.

The comparison was $3mil at lsu, which is just a made up number. He likely wouldn't get that, or $1.1 mil or more at his alma mater. The guy is from the state and played and coached there. These guys don't just go to the highest bidder there are other factors to consider especially knowing the fact he has turned down other job offers to stay at Cincinnati.

He may be off the market before you guys can make a legit offer. We shall see.

We paid Bo 2.3.

Our AD gave jumbo 7.5.

3 million is reasonable.

Not really. $2.5 would be much more likely if they go that high. The highest paid coordinators in all of college football don't make $3 million.

He turned down Michigan St last year, which is a rebuild with a head coach who had a nice first season, but was several choices down their list last year. We are certainly a much more compelling step up.

Make him tell his wife he doesn’t want 1.6 a year to be DC at LSU. A million dollar raise a year.

He also turned down an NFL job, which makes me happy because it seems like he wants to stay in the college ranks coaching.

My point still stands though. LSU is more appealing than michigan state but against his alma mater, if that happens, it would be a toss up at best
