I know he did not fare well as a HC at Vandy, honestly not many do.

I think in the right situation, this guy could produce a dominant defense.

What say you CC board?

I feel like the Mason is a great DC is about as made up as Gruden being great as the potential HC of Tennessee.

Am I wrong? Someone help me here.

Mason is actually a great defensive X’s & O’s guy.

He seemed to coach really good defenses at Stanford back when they were having some of their best years.

Seemed like Vandy defenders were always in the right place. But they’d get trucked or juked.

He was a Broyles Award finalist at Stanford. His defenses at Vandy were pretty much the only reason they were competitive for a couple of seasons, and Zach Cunningham became an all-American there.

He can coach defense. It's definitely not made up.

I think he’s always been highly regarded as a DC

Well he was basically outmanned every single Saturday and still had fairly salty defenses for most of his tenure. He hasn’t been known as a good recruiter but neither Stanford nor Vandy are known for their recruiting potential.

He had a nice tenure at Stanford under Shaw as DC. I wouldn't mind him taking him.

If they got rid of don brown...I definitely think that would work. Also worked with Harbaugh in 2010.

Great. So another 68 year old white guy. Can’t wait. He should fit right in with 20 year old college kids. Personality traits aren’t important at all

Probably another guy who had top notch defenses as a DC 15+ seasons ago
