Lol we can not possibly get any worse so why not take a risk

ESPN is 100% not able to afford to keep MNF after deal ends. Gruden to Vols is 50-50.
More like NOBODY is going to be willing to pay that amount for what ends up being at the arse end of picks for weekly games. I wouldn't be surprised if MNF ends up on the NFLN b/c all the other networks will laugh at the NFL's contract demands.

Good point

It's going to be rather amusing when Tennessee throws insane money at Gruden only to find out he has no fricking idea how to be a college coach in 2018...
...and they begin to think about the legit candidates they could have gotten instead

How does that dude put a % on Gruden going to UT?
Posted on 11/7/17 at 5:29 pm to Pettifogger
If the Sister-Kissers are somehow able to lure in Gruden but then find out that they got super duper, quadruple hornswagled by him since he has no idea how to recruit, then they need to tear down that God-awful waste of real estate by the river, use the proceeds of the sale to pay off ANOTHER coach's buyout, and self-impose the death penalty.
The failure of their silver bullet would quite literally give then nothing to live for. It's like their program has no awareness of their status as a national laughingstock and the poster child of cautionary tales when it comes to firing a HC who's good but not elite.

We are nearing a winless SEC season user Cyde, this is literally as bad as it gets.
Plus, the difference between 4-8 and 0-12 is hardly noteworthy, we suck regardless

A good coaching search is important, IMO you should have a replacement lined up prior to firing the coach in these type of scenarios.
I don't know anything about Butch Jones's contract but a lot of coaches have clauses in there about starting the search before they have been notified (I guess, it's possible Jones has be notified already).
That got AU in trouble with "jetgate". Our AD & Boosters went after Petrino behind Tuberville's back. After news broke of the Petrino meeting our AD was fired and boosters were disassociated. Tubs owned the AD for the next few years

He's been terrible, which I find surprising. He had a good run in Chicago, and even after a disgraceful tenure in Tampa still has a winning record at the NFL record.
I thought it might be a recruiting issue, but Illinois has been hovering around ~45 in recruiting for a while.
I would have thought he could find some college savvy assistants to get him up to speed, or something. He took over a dumpster fire, I'm just surprised the fire is still raging in his second year.
* ETA -- I think Gruden is a much better coach than Smith, though, and should acclimate himself much faster.

His Intel is wrong. It's Jay Gruden they're getting, not Jon.

Source: The Haslam’s have let Jon Gruden use their private jet ever since this all began. He’s borrowing it over the next week as needed.

This hasn’t been much of a secret at all, but it’s been at his disposal for weeks.

This thread is just a tiny sampling of the fear we will see all offseason long.
“Your guy may have won a Super Bowl but has he ever had to beat Will Muschamp, Barry Odom, Mark Stoops and Derek Mason year in and year out?!?!”
