You're right. We should have given Hal Hunter a chance.

I assume that this is more fake news crap and that you are an alter on the payroll of Putin. Before LSU, Saban was already a top tier candidate for head coaching jobs in the NFL, including having turned down an offer from the Giants.

If you making a case for Saban now, it's because you weren't on Tigerbait.com.

This site had not been developed yet. No one was thrilled son, no one.

He came in and adjusted the fans attitudes. Our next coach needs to do the same thing! Enough with the nice guy BS!

Then obviously you didn't follow college or pro football very closely. I knew who he was from his time with Oklahoma State and the Dallas Cowboys.

No, Saban was considered a great candidate for what he did at Michigan State.

The opinion was mixed. It wasn't universal excitement, although plenty felt that way. Like I said, I was still living in BR at the time and I remember it well.

LSU was in no position to melt over any coach in 1999

No I want Herman. Just stated that if the board would have been around back then everybody would have freaked in that point. Saban was definitely an up and comer at that time just like Herman is now.

Say what? Is the OP retarded? Saban was a young up and comer who turned two college football programs around before coming here

In 1999 what expectations did we have?

We were shite in the 90

FWIW nick Saban beat 5 ranked teams his last year at MSU including #3 Michigan and #10 Florida

He also beat #20 OSU, #13 PSU and #24 Norte Dame

We were a 3-8 team. We probably would have creamed our pants for a coach with a win over Florida, OSU, Michigan, PSU and Norte Dame.

I remember 1999. There were a lot of people who didn't like the hire. I remember 2000 when we lost to UAB. EVERYONE wanted Saban fired. Then he beat Tennessee and Mississippi State and got us to the Peach Bowl and benched Booty and people wanted to kiss his arse.

I remember it and most were excited because of how much he did with so little talent.

How are you enjoying college so far?

I'll be perfectly honest. When Saban was announced I said, "who?"

I was less than excited knowing he was the coach at Michigan State when DiNardo had beat him the year before.

Name one coach fans were happy about it had in their top five. Never had one in my lifetime. Archer. Hallman. Dinardo. Saban. Miles. None were big name hires people talked about. Hallman probably was the most popular actually.

That was four years before, at the end of Saban's and Dinardo's first seasons at MSU and LSU.

I did not melt when we hired Les. I was just like "oh ..... really?" If we hire O, I might melt.
