I would love to know exactly the number of candidates that turned him down.
I heard three names, Gilbert, Briles, and Kiffin. All of them turned down the opportunity to even interview.

Ballard is the TU grad I believe.

faith in Alleva for one reason, he makes money.
After we get blown out by Miami & Auburn to start the season, that'll change.
The sight of 20-25,000 empty seats in Death Valley will make these people sit up and take notice.

Reread. O was turned down by the candidates themselves
So let me get this straight. EVERY other potential candidate in America refused to accept what would probably be a SIGNIFICANT pay increase and LSU was left ONLY with their TE coach who doesn't want to be OC and a 74 year old career WR coach? There wasn't a young coach out there similar to a Lincoln Riely or even a Chad Morris who would love the opportunity to come to a school like LSU and try to advance their career?
Do they just not want to work for Ogeron? If so and Aranda is the HCIW...then stop "waiting" and just get rid of the impediment. Second, I can't believe O would agree to a HCIW tag. It's not as if his voluntary retirement appears imminent. So he is agreeing to be the HC on a staff with his inevitable replacement? If he didn't have much authority before hand, he sure as hell doesn't have any now.
I'm sorry, but this is now more or less and trend and sounds about like every other major coaching search under Alleva. Identify a couple of top targets. Pursue them and if they fall through abandon all further efforts and just make a lazy hire that everyone knows will fail. He did it with Johnny Jones. He did it with Ogeron and now they are doing it with the OC position.
How many times does history have to repeat itself before someone with a modicum of common sense wakes the frick up?

Gilbert was called and then never responded too. He was interested and LSU stopped engaging with him. Briles and Kiffen were never going to happen and O knew this, just further proof he wanted Steve because it's his friend and he can control him. O wants someone as OC he can manage and run what he wants how he wants so he faked a search of candidates that he knew would be shut down so it would have to be Steve. Contact others yeah never happened he said in November he wanted Steve. He is getting his boys paid nothing more to see here.

Where are the big dog boosters like Bernard, The Cooks, the Lawton’s etc in all this?

Our defense won’t get blown out by anyone next year!
I’d expect the offense to stay about the same also. Which isn’t great, but don’t expect a collapse

Dear Diary,
Today I decided to try and belittle someone on the internet because I’m depressed with my insignificant life. Do you think the other’s finally think I’m cool?
Don’t be a dick. I was just sharing what I’ve heard.

Yea, tack minor is a huge booster.

The elder Briles was never being looked at. It was Kendal his son. Why can’t you freaking idiots understand that.

What choice would he have in the matter? If Aranda bolted for A&M, he'd be done anyway.

Hence why I said to take with a grain of salt.
And I was told his name was thrown out there early and was shot down by the BOS. If you read further, I mention how the younger Briles refused to even interview.

sorry but i don't buy the "O only hired ensminger because the BOS turned him down with everyone else" argument. maybe that was the case with briles and freeze, but you can't tell me there were no other viable candidates after that.
That's not what he said
I have also heard that outside the ones that Alleva rejected, other coaches won't come because they can't hire staff. O has promised too many jobs to his buddies, and EVERY viable candidate has taken a hard pass on that

Holy mother fricking shite with this.
Was LSU Athletics in the res before him? No. No. No. not al all not even close. He sucks
I was wondering the same.
Pretty sure LSU football was amongst the most profitable programs before Alleva got here based on the groundwork of Emmert, Saban and even Miles. Alleva stepped in to a good position. So, aside from gameday, TV, SEC, bowl revenue, which would probably have gone up over the years regardless of who was in charge, what has Alleva specifically to make money?
I think last night someone started a thread (I think Sentrius, on the Rant board) saying Alleva's changes have been making the game environment more "corporate", and consequently less compelling. Are these changes somehow making more money that LSU wouldn't have made with someone else as AD? ... Not sure what corporate means... though I suspect it's along the lines of overcharging for parking or overpriced concessions, but any a-hole could do that. Maybe fund-raising from donors into TAF, but, again, I'd guess that's more a function of the success of the program over the last 15 or so years and the relative rise in wages over that period. So, I would doubt that, unless Bertman never bothered to pick up the phone and ignored that aspect before Alleva stepped in.
... There's a topic for fodder I'd like to see TenthTiger, tigerbaitlawyer, or GTN's grandpa to chime in on.
