The #Texans are exploring the idea of Josh McCown as head coach but would surround him with at least one former head coach on the staff. Again, not as crazy as it might seem to go from player to head coach. And if anybody can do it, McCown can.

Who would’ve guess the former team chaplain would want to hire a guy who does anti jerk off ads

ESPN will absolutely melt. Clark and Kellerman and others have been pushing hard for a Black HC in the league.

Why don't I get upset over more white defensive backs in the league?

Josh McCown 100% does not deserve a head coaching job in the nfl over guys like Raheem Morris or Eric Bienemy. I don’t even know how you can argue it.

I mean, it is a pretty absurd potential hire.

I mean, none of us are in the room doing interviews. I don’t think NFL teams are intentionally hiring inferior candidates because there is a racist conspiracy. So what makes more sense: (1) a racist conspiracy wherein teams would rather lose than hire the best coach; or, (2) the teams are hiring the guys they think are most likely to succeed?

I've heard and read a lot of things over the years that said McCown would be a very good coach in this league and would be a fast riser, but man. This would be bold

I don’t care either way, but what gives you the right to tell a company who deserves your money and who doesn’t?

Chill out Lenin

KEllerman and Stephen A can go frick themselves. This is America, or at least some semblance of it still and a company can hire whoever they see fit to for a position regardless of he’s black, white or a little green Martian man. They are paying his salary so it should be their choice who they want to hire. All this Rooney rule shite is a load of crap. There are very talented black coaches as well as white coaches but you shouldn’t be forced to interview someone based on skin color alone.

Pretty much would be saying bye bye watson ... You hire a firm to find your gm ... Tell watson he can have input ... They both recommend an african american ... You say hell no ... Then you hire a white coach no other team interviewEd ...

Lol what?

Simply stating a guy who has ZERO COACHING experience at all doesn’t deserve a shot to be a head coach over guys who have actually been coaching in the nfl for year’s makes me a commie? Dude go take your fricking meds. fricking psycho

NTY

If the saints fired SP and was looking for a new coach you guys would be okay with them hiring a journeyman career backup QB with zero head coaching experience? What if he was black? I dont have to defend my beliefs in this forum. Im a regular on the poli board and MAGA as they come but the fact some of you dont see an issue with hiring a guy like McCown over proven coaches black or white is beyond ridiculous.

Owners and GM's are trying to hire the best people regardless of race. There is diversity in football, 70% of players minorities. If you are saying we need quotas in coaches, let's put quotas on players. Fair is Fair, Right?

I don’t think there’s a conspiracy. It’s about access to the top.

More men that look like McCown, Steve Nash (different sport but applicable) and the new Eagles coach (don’t even know his name) have access to the men in ownership and management.

The fact that McCown could potentially walk into an NFL job without any experience isn’t racist. It’s the fact that he could have access to that opportunity, when some men don’t, is what upsets people.

Yeah I would be okay with it. STOP MAKING ASSUMPTIONS. Not everyone on here is a saints fan. Not everyone on here is racist. Not everyone wants the same candidate for head coach. Think deeper..

Why are you posting if you don’t want people to question you and you don’t want to defend yourself.. keep this shite to the politics board. The truth is you know nothing about McCowna and have never spoke to him. You are unqualified to make an opinion on his credentials for head coach.

To me the problem is more getting position coaches an opportunity as a coordinator. Owners will always hire hot coordinators unless they interview really poorly.

You’re ignorant. He’s currently a qb coach. Just because you don’t like the credentials doesn’t nullify them
