As much as this year pissed me off - worse case of blown leads and underachieving I have ever seen - I would have rather kept Sherman one more year if only to keep some continuity going. However, since we're now looking for a new coach, I just hope it's someone who can keep our current recruiting class together and is more defensive-minded than our last couple of coaches. I also hope we get someone quickly.

Maybe today, but very soon they will become a mid-upper SEC team. I would say the Houston area is a little more fertile recruiting ground than Starkville. Coming to the SEC will help TAM's recruiting.

frick man, I'm not saying that Sumlin would be bad, but after the last two coaching hires, you would think our administration would actually interview more than one fricking person. I'm still holding on hope that we get Kirby Smart. Lots of Ags want him.... He would be someone that would be perfect for us. Defensive minded coach, young/energetic, raised in SEC country, played for Georgia, knows how to play the recruiting game in the SEC, and the most important of all: he comes from the SABAN TREE. Saban is the best coach in college football.

but so what if he comes from the “Saban Tree”….so has Bobby Williams, Will Muschamp, Jimbo Fisher, & Derek Dooley….how are (or did in B. Williams case) they doing as H.C.’s?
Why would Smart be any different?

I understood adding Missouri, it added TV markets and Academics. The schools allowed it because it added a middle tier program with academics. it was a smart move. I highly doubt they would allow a top program to have come in with the jump to 14, 16 maybe, not the 14.

Sherman built the Aggie offense the right way, beginning with the OL. They were a scoring juggernaut. Problem was on defense. After losing Vonn Miller, the defense was average at best. Look at the talent on the Aggie defense and tell me who will be playing in the NFL. That's their problem - a dearth of defensive talent. It comes back to recruiting. A&M had some wonderful offensive talent in Tannehill, Fuller, Michael, Gray, Swopes, etc and a few guys on the OL that will play at the next level.
Whomever gets that job better do some defensive recruiting. The number of players who scored against them in the 2nd half this year was longer than the line outside Kim Kardashian's house.
