Sexton having old contracts on file doesn’t make a new one instant. The long-form deal still has to go through lawyers on both sides for buyouts, clauses, bonuses, assistant pool, etc. That’s why schools use MOUs/term sheets lock in the numbers now while the full contract gets finalized.

You don’t think LSU has contracts on file? They have an entire law school. I don’t think they will just be taking an agents boilerplate contract for the biggest hire in state history

He announces it after the coin toss during OT of course.....stupid question.

If you are trying to make it fit the current narrative it would make SOME SENSE that LSU and Kiffin have some sort of agreement in writing that nails down Kiffin coaching LSU next year but allows him to coach the Egg Bowl this week and everything to be announced on Saturday next week. It is possible that the AD meeting this weekend included some agreement between Kiffin and OM to allow this. OM gets Kiffin until Egg Bowl. LSU gets Kiffin after Saturday. Everyone agrees to keep it quiet until then.
Im not saying I believe that but that would fit the current narrative (and what a few posters have said).

Yep....that's the part that's concerning to me. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I do know this is a fluid situation. I don't know what Kiffin said to admins etc, but in the coming days we'll know because there will be a leak somewhere.

What you just laid out is exactly what I was told happened. Your entire post seems like several texts I have received since last Wednesday.

Last week we were told that he is signed and it’s done

Redlining doesn’t take months. I’ll give it weeks but months is retarded. This isn’t a hostile takeover.

I’m sure it’s positive but I ain’t reading all that.

It takes weeks/months for the school to emotionally come to grips with the fact they are being fricked.

the binding pieces are when the contract terms are agreed to and being developed. Not right now when he is under contract and acting as the Coach.
When an announcement is made with him as the Coach that’s when a binding portion will have been signed.
If and only if something was signed now it would be non-binding.

That’s not really how coaching hires work.
Schools don’t wait for the announcement to sign something binding they sign a binding MOU or term sheet first, then finish the long-form contract later. Coaches under contract at another school do this every year during the carousel.
Whether it’s binding or not depends on how it’s written, not on the timing. So saying “anything signed now would be non-binding” just isn’t accurate. If both sides want it binding, they make it binding, and that’s exactly what schools use MOUs for.Coaches sign binding MOUs/term sheets before announcements all the time.Brian Kelly, Lincoln Riley, Dan Lanning, Tom Herman, Sonny Dykes… every one of them had a binding agreement in place BEFORE it went public.

Oregon and Lanning signed the initial MOU before Georgia played the playoff game.He kept coaching at Georgia while under a binding early agreement.(2021)

That’s a coordinator taking a HC job. It’s completely different with HC to HC when remaining in college football. When you sign a binding agreement you will no longer be acting as a HC which is why it gets announced shortly after that. Again nothing has been signed yet. If he does (which is unlikely) and it’s binding then it’s announced after that. He is pushing to remain the coach at ole Miss for the rest of the season so he is not going to sign a binding agreement.

Verge will be on the sidelines with the contract for him to sign if it goes to OT. Hahaha

lane has to catch his son's playoff game Friday Night after the egg bowl. He has to make it out of there alive before he announces his decision. I'm sure he's hoping his son's team loses so he doesn't have to stick around another week.
