Agreed. Kid is a winner. He didn’t get much opportunity to throw the ball in HS based on his stats, but being the QB at American Heritage speaks for itself, IMO. Hopefully he can translate that to the college level.
He has an arm. I heard he did some good things running the scout squad this past season.

Sweet baby Jesus, please let these sources be true!! This is a great hire for McNeese. Going outside the tree, and an Art Briles guy. That should make for an interesting offense.

Just for reference, Gilbert was Garrapallo’s OC/QB coach when he blew up on the scene @ Eastern Illinois

I see what you did there. Well played.

criticized primarily for predictable run schemes and a lack of overall diversity
He won't have that problem when he's the one in charge and not the guy who drove UT off a cliff. The run-heavy offensive scheme is going to appeal to old-school McNeese fans who remember the good ol' days of Jessie Burton/Vick King/etc.
Also, he likely won't cost nearly as much as it would seem. His current salary is only 100K and he was due 400K after Jan. 1. So, split the difference and even if they're paying 250K, they're still getting a bargain.

Will he be coaching Orgerons sons? Hmmmm...
Posted on 12/5/18 at 2:38 pm to ODP
Oops lmao
Orgerons will be back so will there be a qb battle
I $eriously doubt it
I also wonder will they risk Parker with 4 concussions in less than 2 years.
He sat the entire spring this year.

Cody will be facing a battle with the freshman QB from Florida, Cam Smith.
I'd be surpised if Parker ever plays football again due to all the concussions. I'd rather he not play than risk his future health even though he was a very good player.

A majority of USF fans wanted Sterlin gone months ago (like 98% of them)... the FireGilbert webpages, #FireGilbert Twitter rants and stadium banners were really in full effect by the UCF game. I'm in the camp with most of the McNeese fans on here - I believe he's a great hire.
The majority of USF fans on the other hand believe we're finally getting revenge back on you guys for the gut punching we took from McNeese State in Willie Taggart's first game as our head coach. They believe Gilbert is a terrible coach. I just don't see it the same way and believe Strong limited the speed of the offense that Gilbert wanted to run. Maybe the truth is somewhere in between.
Charlie Strong and Sterlin Gilbert were given the keys to a great offense last season with the best QB we've had in our short history. We went 11-2 losing two games in the last two minutes, but you might say we were expected to run the table and fans were questionably upset. Watching HB dive after HB dive game after game pretty much caused the fans to lose their minds. Losing our final five games didn't help his cause either.
Your fans are celebrating an upside hire. Our fans are celebrating Sterlin leaving. Funny how that works. Two years ago we were gloating about Charlie Strong coming to USF believing UT pulled the plug too early. Now I'm in the Fire Strong camp after watching our team the last two years.
Isn't being a fan a wonderful thing...

Thanks for the breakdown.
Fans are fickle and if the offense isn’t running 600 yards a game, there will be a vocal minority wanting heads to roll after one game. I read that USF was 7-0 and averaged 500ypg+ until OL and other injuries caught up with them.
As a McNeese fan, I’m excited about this hire and I’m curious as to what he will bring.

Would've been better off going back to Temple or Abilene Cooper.

Hey look...it’s the Nazi homer admin of the McNeese board. Don’t say anything negative around him, or he will delete it.

Sorry baws, I did not see this thread and bumped the other McNeese thread.
