An announcement is expected later Sunday. The decision comes following a 29-0 loss to Troy in the regular-season finale on Saturday. The Jaguars finished the season 4-7 and went 9-26 overall during Campbell's three seasons as head coach.

They had a pretty good turn around this season. Odd timing.

Hard for me to get excited about any potential hire to be honest. Roster has some good pieces, but no pass rush, cornerbacks are very bad, offensive line is a struggle. Favorable schedule next year may be the only thing working in the Jags favor next year.

Tee Martin’s name is being tossed around.

Indiana’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack is a possibility. He was South Alabama’s defensive coordinator in 2016.

Damn, that sucks.

I’m friends with his mom, but I never got a chance to get to a game during his tenure.

The thing to be excited about is everything you mentioned now has a chance to improve.

Such a beast at perk. I thought he’d do well.

need more help on the O-line pass protection stinks especially from the tackles.

recruiting could be better locally IMO.

we got one player lined for the Senior Bowl LB Riley Cole.

feel like the "could" be a good recruiting tool.

Hey if you come in here and set yourself apart from everyone else you could have a special inside track to go to the Senior Bowl since we are the host sight now.

The Coastal Carolina game this year wasn't all that bad. Our defense played well that night but the offense had some awful turnovers.

I mean I like Campbell but he had 3 years and nothing ever came of it.

blowing the big lead to Tulane at the home opener was so disappointing.

both the UAB and Troy games this year were a fricking joke got blown out by both. That could have been a big nail in Campbell's coffin.

Campbell was a poor/cheap hire to begin with. I’m not 100% sure that Tee Martin will be a the best hire but he’s been a power 5 co-ordinator and he’s from Mobile. I think he may help with South’s issues with recruiting Vigor, Blount, Williamson and Leflore - which has been an issue with all USA sports for a while. If he can convince a few guys from
Mobile who normally go to second tier sec programs to stay home, he might have some success

Trotter has the tools to be a strong Sun Blet QB. If he can build the lines on both sides Martin could have success.

Curious about what happens with the rest of the staff. I am good friends with the OC's father. Kenny Edenfield was the OC at Troy for 7 or 8 years before hooking up with Campbell at USA, they had been friends since playing together at Troy. Kenny's son KD played at Troy and is now a GA at USA.

I just thought he’d be able to pull juco kids and with the juco system in Mississippi there’s a lot of talent there

One of the big things Coach Campbell did was clean up the program on and off the field. There were no academic or drama issues on the team. Unfortunately it didn't translate into wins but the new coach will not have to change the culture or image of the program. Just got to get and develop better players.

Vigor, Blount, Williamson have loads of talent but there's a lot of discipline issues at those schools and in their community. Keeping a lot of these kids in their hometown could be a big mistake and I think that's why USA has stayed away from recruiting those schools.

With all the talent from NOLA to Pcola you would think South could recruit better. Brand new stadium

USA is just a D-1 community college to me.

I think the problem has been we haven’t gotten in the door with the kids from those schools who have the athletic talent and discipline to be successful....home or elsewhere.

Of course, Saraland and Spanish Fort (cough, cough) recruit a lot of kids from those areas but the Jags haven’t been as successful with them. We do a little better with private school kids.

The guy who replied below about USA being a D-1 community college couldn’t be further from the truth. In the last 15-20 years South has completely changed from that. Opening Hancock Whitney in 2020 was a bad stroke of luck, but the new coach should bring excitement along with a “grand opening” in 2021.

USA is a sleeping giant in football imo....giant relative to the SBC and G5 of course
