He’s turned down interviews from several schools and the New York Jets twice. Maybe he just likes it in Ames?

I’ve been, it’s alright, more fun than I expected. It’s got nothing on an SEC tailgate, but the people are cool. Mid-western people are a lot like southerners with just an okey dokey accent.

Some guys walk to the beat of their own drummer.

The guy has probably lived his life by NOT simply trying to find the better job and instead put his head down, worked as hard as he could to be the best he could, and let the opportunities come to him.

It's probably why he is who he is.

He seems to love it where he is and is attached to his players. Pretty rare in today's landscape.

I don’t think he turned down usc.

But if he doesn’t end up somewhere, my guess is he is probably holding for a nfl opportunity.

supposedly he is just different. Huge family guy, likes the small town feel of ames and likes raising his family there. Likes not having to live in the office and getting to see his kids grow up all while still being extremely wealthy.

I respect the shite out of a family guy like that.

No kidding. Family and loyalty first.

He may still leave, but I don't see how anyone could not respect Campbell. He doesn't play the recruiting games and he can't be bought. He'll make a move when it's right, not because how much money someone throws at him.

I'd love for Campbell to go to ND. It would mean Fickell is staying at UC for now (probably) and no opening for Freeman, who would likely become LSU's DC.

I was in Chicago last week and he was all the talk on the local sports radio there for the Bears. Might be waiting till after their bowl. Maybe some Chitown posters can tell us more. According to Bill Simmons there might be some mystery NFL team lurking too. Supposedly he's a big Giants fan. ??
