Are we to believe that Alleva didn't engage in phone calls with Jimbo directly and just ask the point blank question

"Jimbo, I know you have an Agent, but are we wasting everyone's time perusing you to LSU?"

"Do you want the job or not?"

"Respectfully, I need to know."

Was that call made after Les was fired?

I mean the whole search thing is mind boggling...

It doesn't seem like it really happened...

I am all in for O. The talk last week of "negotiations have taken a turn" with Jimbo in the 9th hour is unfortunate. 10 year deal? geezz...he knew we wouldn't go for that

that shouldn't happen...

it also makes me hate sports agents...they have made everything a game...

I'm starting to believe all the Jimbo talk from last year was BS too.

I believe he made Jimbo an offer he knew he would refuse to pretend like he tried.

Probably not all BS but it's obvious he wasn't a lock last year like people wanted to believe.

But there were insiders with sources, and Jimbo was 80%.

That's because it didn't happen. There was no search.

Don't worry, this didn't happen either. When it was time for the real negotiations Joe Alleva tucked tail and ran.

I believe they were feeding misinformation to the sources to give the illusion to them that Alleva was actually trying.

When you're dealing with Jimmy Sexton as an agent, all bets are off. The entire Jimbo thing could have been to get more out of Florida State.

Would he have come? Maybe. If Florida State would have completely ignored his threats, probably. For any threat to be legit, you have to be willing to follow through. But as long as Florida State was listening to him, he was never leaving, IMO.

You ever wonder if Jimbo and Herman were given information on Alleva and decided they were not going to work for him period.

Uh no. Every college coach is looking out for himself.

Talking directly to coaches during the season is pretty much off limits.

Agents are like strippers, for some reason you start thinking they really like you

In all seriousness though Apex, I hope you've learned by now to quit believing Internet sources.

Fisher wasn't nearly as excited about coming to LSU as people said.
There are a few different reasons but honestly, He was never close either time.

LSU Alums, Season Ticket Holders, TAF's and Power Brokers should all band together and demand that he resign immediately.

He has caused LSU national embarrassment yet once again.

It's obvious that we had Herman, but "Snow Peas Joe" didn't even have enough tact or skill in negotiations to seal the deal.

Step up to the plate and get your man. Tell him why he should be at LSU and not Texas. Sell the Program and back it up with $$$$$$, but as soon as Texas pops up, he vanishes like a scared little girl.

This is "Termination Worthy" incompetence.

Anybody ever think maybe LSU job is not the prize we all like to believe it is? Considering the Byzantine levels of political intrigue, the constant media muck-raking, the perpetual discontent of fans and unrealistic expectations, and the fact that Baton Rouge is at best an acquired taste... it could be we are more of a coaching fever swamp than we've realized.

I think last year really did almost happen. After LSU pulling the rug out from firing Miles and hiring Jimbo, it left Fisher in a bind. He probably had to spend hours talking with his agent and talking with his AD to make sure "all is good again".

That's why I was never a big fan of going after him this time. He got stood up by LSU, when it was LSU that made plans and started the whole thing to begin with. I kept visualizing Fisher and Sexton laughing their arse off in a room somewhere when Alleva contacted Sexton again this year. Something like, "watch this shite..." "Yeah, he will talk to you, he wants 80 million over 10 years, LSU will pay for whatever moving expenses there are, whatever house, LSU will buy whatever car he wants, will pay his taxes every year..." In other words, they were fricking with LSU. And the bonus is, now he can go back to FSU and get more money for him and his assistants now.

Can't say that I really blame him. I probably would have done the same thing had I been stood up like that after they initially approached me.

I think he was never seriously interested at all. Every coach is willing to listen for the potential offer that they wouldn't be able to refuse, but I doubt that there were actual negotiations happening.
