Helfrich makes $3.8MM, Petersen $3.2MM. Petersen is probably getting a raise soon regardless and there's no reason to think UW can't/won't pay market price

If Phil Knight wants a guy, it is likely to happen. He's got Nike apparel to sell. I think he can make a reach to a regional coach. They don't appear to be ready to drop top dollar. Point is, CC has a natty. So does UW. Does that mean UW is a football power house that does what they want? No, they made a good hire to a regional guy that likes where he is and can likely be bought by another school in the area.

Honestly? I think Herman would pencil that into consideration before an SEC school like LSU. We've become high on our pony that everyone wants to come coach here when our conference is corrupt, our fans expect an awful lot every year, boo "coaching decisions" (players) and leave every halftime, Any smart coach knows that they can go to any major program and make big money, excellent talent, and favorable schedules.

LSU is going to have to find a guy that loves LSU.

UW cares about football, and has a larger football history, than you give them credit for

i don't know why Peterson would even go

and UO had some issues with Kelly and recruiting so i seriously doubt they'll hire somebody like Briles

The real question is how does Hoke continue to get a job making over 1 MM per year when he has proved over and over he has no clue how to coach football.

What? This tells me you only know about the last 15 years or so. Washington overall is a better place to coach. Great fanbase, nice city, wealthy boosters and they've actually won a national championship.

Oregon will never hire Scott Frost as head coach.

Frost is largely responsible for their current mess where they keep having to use FCS transfers as QBs. Even though he's not the OC there anymore it was still the recruiting situation he left behind for the current OC.

Briles copied everything from Oregon. Including the different uniforms each week

He even went up there in the offseason and learned the system from Chip

It would be a slam dunk fit for sure. Just not sure they want the PR backlash. Depends on how bad they want to win

I can pretty confidently say that UW is a more prestigious program than Oregon, even with the last fifteen years. Have you ever lived out there?

UW has been the second great West Coast program (other than USC) for almost a century. They have more fans and a richer fanbase than Oregon. They care about the sport a lot. They are right in the middle of one of America's great cities. Other than USC, they have more tradition than anyone West of the Texas. They have plenty of alumni with very deep pockets. They aren't getting outbid by fricking Oregon. Something tells me Oregon is probably in for a rough stretch here for a while because their big brother finally quit screwing around and got their shite together.

Peterson isn't leaving UW unless it's for an NFL job.

You touched on pretty much everything, but I'll add that Washington made Rick Neuheisel one of the richest coaches in America by luring him from Colorado when he was actually a hot commodity. And they had a legit argument to play for the national title under him in 2000.

Just in case that guy comes back and still thinks U-Dub doesn't care about football.

It DEFINITELY is.

Superior history as in terms of football (a winning tradition that extends back beyond the 2000s including a Natty), larger, wealthier alumni base, better academics, located in the capital of the PNW.

I'm not an Oregon hater, either. I actually like them. But just being objective, yes, U Dub is without a doubt the more prestigious program with the higher ceiling.

Why is everyone so high on Fleck?

He's a system coach with decent fashion sense and moderate success. He's not the next Bear Bryant.
