Texas simply can't let him leave the state. It's that simple. IF you are LSU, he simply isn't a viable candidate because Texas is going to pay whatever it takes.

I think Alleva has decided on O but will talk to Jimbo. He is counting on Jimbo to make some outrageous salary request, then he can tell him no and go with O. He will publicly deny that's why he didn't hire Jimbo but get that word out through "unnamed sources in the athletic department".
This is not a hard one to believe. If anyone anywhere can frick this up, it's our guy, Alleva.

He just has to beat a 6-4 team.

Not that optimistic.

Herman is going to Texas. Jimbo to Baton Rouge.

Coach O is a super guy but screwed up his audition vs Bama. Too many mistakes in a big game. And consider this Les would be at least 3-2 and probably 4-1 right now. So basically CEO is Miles 2.0 with an accent

Hanagriff and Ott just said Coach O has passed Herman. Houston's decline has hurt him dearly.

so that must be true.

His offense laid an egg when he had every opportunity to shine. Unfair crticism? Perhaps, but Bama-LSU has been labeled by several the best rivalry in college football the past 8 years. If O was to beat the team that we are currently in a drought with that rivals the 70's one, he would have been hired officially with An Aleva press conference 10 minutes following the game. The BOS could have bitched all they want, but that would have been something they couldn't resist by replacing O.

I disagree with that. Everybody in position to make the coaching hire realizes Coach O had been on the job for 4 games prior to facing Alabama. They know that he has a TE's coach leading the offense and had also been on the job for 4 games. They know that a major overhaul is not possible in that amount of time.

They know that if O is hired he will bring in a different OC along with other coaching changes if warranted. They also know that he will run the USC offense at LSU once he has time to get it installed.

What coach could have come in and in their 4th game as head coach, with a TE's coach as OC beat Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide in the 11th week of the season? Urban Meyer, Jimbo, Harbaugh, Swinney - NOPE to all of them. They couldn't beat Saban with their teams and they have been with them for longer than 4 games.
