This moved his career record to 21-3. I'll take 21-3 with wins over Oklahoma and Florida State, while using a converted wide receiver at quarterback.

Imagine what he could do with real qb talent. Or if you don't feel like imagining, go back and look at the tape of him tearing Bama a new one, with the way he developed Cardale Jones, Braxton Miller, JT Barrett.

This guy is NOT a risk. He's a home run hire.

If Houston plays like they did for the past 5 games, Louisville will embarrass them and it will end the Herman to LSU talk

Maybe so, but it isn't entirely fair to judge Herman for this. Keep in mind, he's using an injured, converted wide receiver as his qb. Not an easy task to go on the road and beat a top 3 team. If he even keeps it close, it should speak volumes to how well he can coach.

Same happened during the 2004 LSU season.

Losing on the very last play of a bowl game has no correlation to performing poorly for five straight games.

I think it is more about how shitty his offense has looked in its last five games. 303 total yards against SMU. 292 total yards against Tulane. Not good for a guy whose specialty is offense, especially when his team is more talented than the opposition.

Have you thought about why this might be?

see ronnie prude telling saban to go frick himself after the Iowa bowl game. Its pretty natural for guys to check out once they realize the current regime won't be there next year.

1. thats just the 2016 class, so the True Freshmen

2. I don't think 247 really puts as much time into evaluating 3 and 2 stars as you do.

3. You aren't great at the math are you?

Herman is 8-2 this year with Louisville and a road game at Memphis coming up. With the bowl game he could very easily be 8-5 at the end of the season. Just like the immortal Tony Levine.

So, despite Herman's 21-3 record, you're predicting he'll finish the year on a 3 game losing streak?

The game is in Houston.

Still not easy to beat a top 3 team at home, but the losses to Navy and especially SMU look bad. And the 3 wins they've had since the Navy loss weren't convincing win.

If Houston keeps the game close, no shame in losing to Louisville. But I'm predicting a blowout...especially with being motivated by having the playoffs in front of them again with 3 of the top 4 being upset this past weekend

The game is at Houston. Houston just put 292 total yards against Tulane at Houston.

Yes, many times, I think Herman sucks at keeping his team focused and motivated.

LSU fired their head coach and offensive coordinator. No rumors, those guys are gone. LSU players right now have no idea who their coach will be next year. Why didn't they give up on the season?

Ed Oliver starts for Houston. Is Houston the only team with true freshmen?

I would bet they put much more time into than I do. I look at LSU recruits and that is all. If anything Houston's recruits are probably undervalued.

What does how good at math I am have to do with anything. I posted a link. If you don't like it go argue with 24/7.

You missed the point. You are saying Houston has the best roster because they had the best class in 2016, but those guys are only Freshmen. They aren't making up the majority of the starters or even backups on really any of these teams.

I woudl bet Tulsa's are undervalued too.

They beat Tulane by 12 not 7.

Sumlin being at Houston prior to aTm has absolutely no bearing on why I think LSU fans should disregard losses that Herman has at Houston this season.

Who said that I want Herman? I like him and he could be the best long term solution or he could flash before our eyes.

Roll the dice? I like to gamble. I also like playing it safe when that chick looks a little dirty. You might want to look at for the next two weeks to be sure before you go all raw dog. Just because it looks good don't mean it's all good!!

Yes, after how Houston did against Navy, Tulsa, SMU, UCF and Tulane, I think Houston is lucky they only have to play three more games this year. 292 total yards at home against Tulane - they now get to play Louisville at home and Memphis on the road. Whoever they play in the bowl game will probably be a decent team at worse. I see a 8-5 season for Herman.

Hanagriff and Ott just said Coach O has passed Herman. Houston's decline has hurt him dearly.

Assuming they are privy to inside info, it is truly astounding the powers that be would be so stupid and fickle as to move up a guy who never made it to a bowl game over a guy that beat Bama's arse and made UH into a playoff darkhorse. It really is unbelievable, and I hope people remember in the future that the stupidity of the powers that be is boundless. Classic Louisiana.

Eta: this is all based on the surface level. Realize that it could be posturing. If it comes to light that this was the real thought process, will be comically terrible foresight by the brass and money.

I see you're still hung up on the total offense number against Tulane even after admitting you didn't watch the game and have no clue what actually happened in the game.

I understand your line of thinking, but I am going to ask you to look at it another way.

There is a difference between an AD firing a coach and a Coach choosing to leave.

Les was fired because he wasn't doing his job well. I think the players liked him, but they were tired, the offense wasn't good, and the team had no spark. Firing Les game the team the spark.

But a coach leaving a good team for a "better" school definitely sends the message to the players that they are not good enough for that coach. How is he supposed to keep them motivated and committed to the team if they know he isn't?

Okay, then how can a team that goes 13-1 one season with another staff's players go to shite the second season?

Correct, they beat them by 12 at home while gaining 292 total yards of offense.

You want LSU fans to disregard Herman's losses this year? Only look at last years 13-1 season, huh?
