Kirby has the Georgia D rolling. Saban isn't going anywhere for at least a couple more years. Miami and FSU are powers you have to compete with.

Flip side of that is none of those schools you mentioned here want him at UF.

Funny the board said it was 100% florida a few days ago.
Everyone knows UF is the better job but does he want the pressure cooker that is the SEC? If he says "yes" to UF then he has accepted that challenge if not then thats a "no".

Southern California or a shitty college town in the middle of an endless swamp?

If all things are relatively equal, only an idiot would choose Gainesville. It is, with the possible exception being Starkville, the worst town in the SEC.

My guess is Chip probably landed in Gainesville and realized that the only restaurant there is a Dave and Busters and left.

like the article says it depends entirely on if you value relative anonymity or if you like being the center of the universe in your community.

Personally I would take Florida

From what I've read about Kelly, I don't think he would fit well in Gainesville, even though it's the better job. Reminds me a little bit of Billy Clyde Gillispie, who would have been a legend had he stayed as the basketball coach at A&M, but couldn't resist the lure of the Kentucky job, where he face planted and never recovered. I could see the same happening with Kelly if he doesn't have smooth sailing from the get go.

+1 These SEC homers are hilarious. His offense won't work in the SEC. Same crap we used to hear about Urban Meyer.

That's a factor, but not the only one.

Chip likely has enough connections to enable him to do some "vetting" of the UF and UCLA internal environments.

All things considered, UCLA just seems to be a better fit for him. If UCLA is agreeable to the terms he wants ($s, control, staffing, etc.), he'll probably choose UCLA.

Coaches dont leave OSU, LSU, Bama, Michigan and UF to go to friggan UCLA

But they do fake health issues to get away from Florida. They also fake news of death threats after winning back to back division titles.

You're kidding yourself if you think coaches don't pay attention to that.

Urban faked to get away from Saban, so he could run to his dream job at OSU

Chip Kelly and Urban Meyer are friends, he knows what happened here.

UCLA is a better job if you want to get to the playoffs.
Easier path
Only have to recruit against USC.
No Saban to play.
