Should Chip Kelly choose Florida or UCLA?

Should Chip Kelly choose Florida or UCLA? Coaches offer their advice
Should Chip Kelly choose Florida or UCLA? Coaches offer their advice
quote:
A decision could come as soon as Monday afternoon.
Both Florida and UCLA are attractive options for Kelly, who led Oregon to three Pac-12 titles, a national title game appearance, a Rose Bowl championship and a Fiesta Bowl championship in just four seasons as head coach. Both Florida and UCLA are located in talent hotbeds. Both have recently made overdue commitments to facility upgrades. While Florida has a national championship tradition, UCLA always has been viewed as a sleeping giant.
ESPN reached out to coaches and others to gauge which school Kelly should pick and why. The near consensus: Kelly should head west again...

The coaching changes board told me Chip was 100% going to UCLA.
It's all over now, Baby Blue.

Coaching board also told me he had signed two contracts with Florida.

Both schools have plenty of pros, and cons. Whichever he, and his family feel is best for them. Funny how everyone forgets all that.

Either Florida fans are splooging too early or Chip Kelly signed 2 florida contracts within a week of each other.

like the article says it depends entirely on if you value relative anonymity or if you like being the center of the universe in your community.
Personally I would take Florida

I personally would choose Florida if I was being offered, but I think UCLA would be a better fit for him. Less pressure, and easier to gain control of the conference.

florida job>>>>>>>>>>>>ucla job

Florida is the better job as far as fan support, booster support, and being in a much better football conference. The recruiting advantage is a push in my humble opinion. There is a shat-ton of available talent in both Florida and California. Where the personality of Kelly comes into play is the real question here. Where does Chip's personality belong? I say he should go to UCLA because he will not fit in at UF like he will in Southern California. But winning always solves personality conflicts but at UF he would have to win in season two for sure. UCLA would be way more patient.

Well the truth of the matter, and Chip knows this, is that he would not have to face Ed O every year if he went to UCLA.
I'm sure that frightens him and he will choose the Bruins

i mean the better job is obviously Florida. if he wants a little less pressure and attention then UCLA. i think he will win big at either job.

Kirby has the Georgia D rolling. Saban isn't going anywhere for at least a couple more years. Miami and FSU are powers you have to compete with. I'd build a powerhouse at UCLA and be king of the West Coast instead of just the "next" Florida coach expected to win championships.

Well said Jonathan. I concur with all that.

If he wants to win national championships then he should go to Florida.
If he wants to compete for Pac 12 South titles then he should go to UCLA.

No state income tax
Much lower cost of living
On campus stadium
Don't have to compete in your own city with another power
Better fan support
Better conference
Florida is a much better job

If he puts the same amount of effort in at both places, at which place will it have a more meaningful impact?
Before last year, the answer would have unequivocally have been UCLA. But the Pac 12 is a lot harder now than it used to be. The SEC is down, the coaching turnover alone shows that.
But, the very top of the conference is who he would want to be competing with each year, and that is still better in the SEC. So, IMO, the same amount of effort expended would yield more at UCLA than it would at Florida.
Also, from a media standpoint, he'd be about 7th on the sports list in Los Angeles. In Gainesville, #1.

I tell everyone, UCLA is not a destinstion job. Coaches dont leave OSU, LSU, Bama, Michigan and UF to go to friggan UCLA

Florida is the better job. UCLA is the better fit for him imo

Uhhh no. The easier path to a national championship is through the PAC-12. Saban is still in the SEC and Chip isn't beating him.
