that is BS.

For all regards Sherman was a nice guy. No need for the AD to humiliate him like that. It honestly makes me sick to my stomach.

people who dont like the message always bitch about how it happened. "its not that he got fired, its how..." spare me. its a brutal business, hes been rewarded handsomely, and will get a nice buyout for his plight. sherm should be humiliated by his coaching performance this year

what are they supposed to do? wait 3 weeks for him to get off the road? miss all available candidates? please...

he should have been fired. he sucked it up on the field.

He should at least get a phone call from his freaking boss, not someone he was recruiting.

Completely agree. That's like Petrino leaving a note. What happened to telling people big time info like this in person? Pussy's...

I find that hard to believe. I heard he was on a recruiting trip and was called off but not informed by a recruit's mom. If true though, Bill Byrne should be dragged through the streets of College Station. How stupid could an AD be when he knows he is going to be looking for a replacement?

highly doubt it went down this way. sure it was more of the mom asking if reports were true about him being fired before he actually got called back which was reported.

Sumlin reminds me of Curley Hallman, ride one decent QB and put up a bunch of yards and take another job to fail miserably.

Strong would be the safe hire and he knows the SEC landscape. Sumlin would be more risky and I think the SEC would welcome him rudely.

A&M was finally looking more respectable and ready to make a move. They may regret the way they handled this one. What coach wants to take that job knowing the level of competition your about to take on.

I agree...if the mom knew anything, it was just speculation she may have read off the internet.

The Athletic Dept didn't want to fire Sherman. They wanted to make some changes at the assistant level.

The BoR wanted a new coach. The BoR will win that battle every time.

Somebody in the AD leaked Sherman's firing to Kirk Bohl's and forced A&M to call and fire Shermsn instead of doing it face to face.

It's a mess but not as cold hearted like it seems at first glance
