When all the rumors started Thursday night (I think) about us getting VK I was thinking it would be a great hire. You can go back and look at my post if you don't believe this. However I've been asking Clemson fans up here in SC if this is a good hire the responses I got were "NO", "Hell no, he sucks" stuff like that. The best response I got was "He's ok" Now every one on here is saying that he doesn't blitz much, DB's far off the ball. I think I'm gonna jump off the VK band wagon, and on the Tenuta.

Maybe their opinion suck, did you ever think of that. Not unlike many around here. His numbers have been very good for a pretty long time

What's the clemson version of a ranter? Look at the on field results. He'd be a solid hire.

He's a very good coach. If we end up with him, we would immediately be upgraded on defense.

we're talking about a fan base that thinks the WR coach is going to get them to the next level

Yeah, he runs a "bend but don't break" defense... doesn't blitz much... lots of safety help for corners that play well off receivers... Pretty much the opposite of what LSU fans have grown accustomed to and love to see.

But, we'll see what happens.

I'm not saying VK is a bad coach, I'm saying I'd rather have Tenuta ANY day of the week. VK is a good 2nd choice.

A blitzing D isn't always the key. We blitzed alot this year and it didn't get us anywhere.

You first need a DL that can generate pressure without blitzing.
When you do blitz, you need a coach who can keep the QB guessing as to where it's coming from.
And you also need DB's who can play one on one.

There's nothing wrong with a team that sometimes play off the WR's. But, they must tackle well and keep everything in front. It also helps if they actually ball hawk and create turnovers.

I dont care what we do as long as we are good. His career is marked with defenses that finish in the top 20 in the country.

He is good wth DBs. You cant blitz a lot until we can teach our DBs how to play man!!!

BTW: we blitzed a lot this year, a whole lot but it wasnt effective.

After watching Florida today i am now starting to think the "scheme" or the "philosophy" wasn't the problem. Poor Fundamentals, Confusion, and most importantly horrible personel decisions is what cost us.

the coach better choose the write dc because if next year goes like this one i believe lsu will be looking for a new head coach. he made one bad choice and it cost him this year. but don't make two in a row. this ain't nd.

it was a combo of both. We had 2 coaches who had no idea how to use the scheme nor game plan with it.

and yes lots of poor tackling. That was what Bama did extremely well today.....and still gave up 31 points

This calls into question that maybe the other LSU defensive coaches also failed...such as DL coach, Earl Lane.

Yeah, and we had people tell Nebraska fans that we were glad Pelini was gone.

Crowton's friendship and professional vouching for VK, probably sold Simpleton Miles..whether the right call or not.

I'd prefer Chavis, but if it's to be VK, LSU will be far more competent than 2008 regardless.

Another source says deal is done for VK to go to K-State...co-DC situation.
