Yeah, I would be thrilled. Apparently he has a presser tomorrow at 10:15am, but it was already scheduled weeks ago.

can't believe he'd leave his alma mater just like that. after the alabama thing last season i figured he'd be at WVU forever. anyways, good hire by UM if it goes through.

Well darn.

There goes my plan to buy all the "Welcome Coach Rod" signs from the Gumps to welcome him to JHS when West Virginia plays Auburn in 2009.

I heard that Rich Rod was upset with WVU because when he signed his last contract extension, after the whole Bama debacle, he had asked for improvements to the athletic facilities and WVU has shown no sign of making good on their promise yet.

I don't think he'd really be interested in the Michigan job, but perhaps he is just doing it to put pressure on his alma mater to start spending the cash!!!

Rich-Rod to Alabama was a "done deal" last year as well.

Press conferences are all I believe anymore.

Bama guys don't understand that they'll be hearing this for however long Saban is coaching Alabama... until he jumps ship to go somewhere else.

Scoop,

I hate to disagree with you but I think Saban is desperate to get out. The pressure and expectations at Alabama are unrealstic and ridiculous. It's a damned if you do and a damned if you don't situation because every coach is expected to be the second coming of Bear and will not be acceptable if they are not. I believe West Va is where sis family is and it is a university which is loyal to it's coaches. He could easily field a team there that is in the National Championship race regularly because it is a weak conference. I could actually see it happening and that would be the kind of job he would retire in. Also, do not forget that Saban does not need the money at this point and has NO BUYOUT at Alabama.

You are correct in the fact that he has no buyout, but he would have to find a way to "get out" of Alabama and that would be a problem.

We are actually holding him hostage here now. He has been trying to leave since the LSU game. He wouldn't let go of Miles after the game during the handshake and if you watch the video you can clearly see him begging Miles to let him ride home on the bus with the team. Miles is hard of hearing in his right ear which is apparent due to the fact that he thought Bo told him it was 3rd and ten instead of 4th and ten in the Arkansas game and he chose not to blitz. There is only one way out for Nick...Pinebox baby!!!

Maybe Bama fans will get the luxury of seeing the WVU equipment trucks parked in front of his house. That was one major slap in the face to Miami fans and it would serve Alabama right for being so arrogant about "taking" Saban!
