Right or wrong, UM paid RichRod 2.5M, Alabama threw 4M at Saban. I'd say they are coaches of equal ability at programs that have similar history...then again, Alabama has been useless since the 80s or so.
No chance in hell Nick Saban would walk into that mess. More surprisingly is that boosters offered to pay the cost, and the university turned them down. None of that stuff would do anything except make the Mountaineers better. That said, I'm glad I don't ever have to drive through West Virginia again.

Terrelle Pryor might be coming to Michigan now, that'll more than make up for losing Weinke.
At least we can agree ESPN blows more important things than Michigan.
RichRod got Shaun King into the NFL, enough said.

I don't see how Mallett is a good fit in that system
His system is not just spread with a running QB. In the early 90s at Glenville State his team threw 50-60 times a game. From 1997-2001 he was the OC for the Tulane teams under Tommy Bowden and was behind the offense that Shaun King ran and led to the 12-0 season. At WVU he tailored the spread to include a running QB.
Mallett, in a 4 wide shotgun spread with McGuffie in the backfield. Trust me, it will work.
$2 million by August 31st, 2008, and $2 million by August 31st 2011. Remember, Michigan has $85,000+ luxury boxes to sell. Brady Hoke sure as hell isn't selling them. Michigan is cheap...until it wants something. See Belien. $2.5M buyout, negotiated down to $1.5M, and paid.
Scout Reporting RichRod to UM is done deal.

Yeah, I would be thrilled. Apparently he has a presser tomorrow at 10:15am, but it was already scheduled weeks ago.
Because Les can reach out and pull someone when he needs him. He's got Tenuta in his pocket, don't worry about it.
My current dynasty team in NCAA 200x is LSU. I won 4 titles with UM and LSU was a 2-10 team. Thought it would be mildly humorous, then Les decided to stay at LSU, and it's less funny.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd prefer Rodriguez.
My preferred candidates are (in no order): Miles, Stoops, RichRod, Meyer, Chris Petersen (Boise State). Ohhh, and Mark Richt, would freaking love him at Michigan, and would rank him my number 1 choice, but I just don't see it happening.
I think you have to take a run at the first 4, knowing you can land Chris Petersen if you strike out on the home run attempts.

It's easier to win at UM than the SEC. In the SEC, you have LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee contending every year, and Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, and South Carolina to worry about upsetting you.
At Michigan, you have to beat Notre Dame, tOSU, and then worry about Wisconsin and Penn State every couple of years.
The path to a MNCG is much easier through the Big 10.

Dude, he's right. The south is laid back (I've lived there), but the Midwest does live in the past too often.
Thrilled.
He ran a pass heavy spread when he had Shaun King at Tulane. He led Tulane to an undefeated season. Then he brought WVU to BCS bowls and almost the national title game (I think Steve Slaton is injured btw, Rich Rod isn't going to just ignore him, he's not stupid). Also, Slaton was a *** prospect, and White was a ** prospect. He's had 1 top 30 class in his time at WVU. With the talent at Michigan...just wow.

They are all slow and nobody else wants them.
They aren't slow until they go through our S&C program. I'd like to note that is the biggest problem with the program. Only two schools in the NCAA still use High Intensity Training (HIT). Michigan and Penn State. Both schools have been wastes of talent since the mid 90s when S&C shifted to explosive free weights and such.
That said, all the recruits knew that a new head coach was likely. Besides, if you were willing to commit to Lloyd Carr, bad facilities (being upgraded now), and a bad S&C, what could possibly make you change your mind?
Is this really necessary by Skip? I mean, we all know the contract doesn't mean anything if he wants to leave. I don't think Miles will leave, but it sounds like Skip is trying to get media play to make Les look bad if he does leave.
I think you guys missed this, that article was reprinted on the Free Press site. The actual article first appreared in some New Jersey paper. www.freep.com just posted it on their site since it relates to the UM search.

^^ It references the study on the speed differences between southern and northern schools.

The process has already started. Lloyd Carr told Martin and UM President Mary Sue Coleman at the beginning of this season he was retiring at year's end. Also, Martin ruled out any candidates without HC experience, so the entire current staff is out. Ferentz has a 0% chance. He's overrated, and not a proven winner. He also has ties to OHIO, not Michigan or Michigan Football. Kelly was passed on by MSU, that has to mean something.
Les Miles WILL be offered the job, either if LSU loses to Arkansas or in the SECCG (hopefully not, I'm rooting for LSU) or after LSU wins the BCSNCG (hopefully). It's his choice to accept or not.

HEY SHOCK FX WHO THE HELL ARE U TO SAY WHATS ELITE, LSU KICKED arse WAY BEFORE NICK. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SNOW
LSU was 54-58 in the 90s. How much arse kicking is that? Besides, who cares about the past, both are elite programs now. That's all that matters.
