And Texas does well the rest of the year and keeps Strong. I am sure at some point Texas or some other big name program goes after Herman. Chances of his visit being brief at LSU in that scenario?

im sure there'll be a big texas clause in his contract that'll include a huge buyout, cattle, interests in all texas shale plays, and perhaps a franklin's bbq in baton rouge.

No shot. He would only leave for the NFL.

LSU would match anything UT, A&M or USC would offer.

It's a pain in the arse for a coach to uproot and start over at another school. Especially when you have one rolling or step into a loaded roster like he will have at LSU.

Could always happen..... but LSU is not a stepping stone job. It is more of a destination.

I was not saying no when you had Shake Shake. Now with Franklin I'm officially listening.

I agree, but id hate to get a new coach here just for another team to poach him in. 2-3 years. We would be back to square one, and if another school offered enough to up root, it could happen.

If miles truly turned down michigan for more money, like Skip said, then im not worried about this at all.

Not saying it won't happen, but when was the last time an LSU head football coach left LSU on his own accord and in good standing, only to become head coach at another university? I'm 41 and I cannot recall this ever happening.

It sometimes seems like our fans suffer from both premature and after the fact catastrophe syndrome.

Herman to Texas. They could pay more than anyone else. At least that's what I was told on this board a few years ago.

There are only two programs I believe Herman COULD leave LSU for

Ohio State and Texas

COULD leave for.

But I think you could have him locked up long enough to do some big time things first. Remember he is only 41

I HOPE we hire him, and a couple years down the road Texas or OSU comes after him.

That will mean great things would have been happening during his time at LSU....and Im all for that.

Anyone contract we give him would have a prohibitive buyout to Texas, tOSU, and any SEC team.

LSU is a destination job. It is not a stepping stone job.

If we get Herman, he would be here for a long time, presuming he's winning.

Why are idiots acting like LSU is a stepping stone job? He could build a dynasty here and LSU would make him the highest paid coach in the country. Unless they took the clause out, had Miles won a national title this year, he would have been making one dollar more than Saban.

Saban turned down 10 years,100 mill to Texas
Miles turned down Michigan, his alma mater

People can say prestige and tradition all they want, but if he builds a dynasty at LSU, there won't be a university worth going to because of prestige or money.

Also, not everybody goes to the NFL like other posters brought up.
