I'm not comparing LSU to other state schools
But there are plenty of alums from other state schools that are LSU fans also

the comparison was LSU fans total vs Saints fans and people who are fans of both

There are more LSU fans is this state and out of state than saints fans and LSU holds more power

Looks like they didn’t care about the LSU fanbase. How dare an NFL franchise do what a local college wants

Lol. Upset because the PRO team isn’t catering to the AMATEUR teams desire to try and pilfer a coach.

Ultimately, the Saints really have no recourse if he wants to leave.

Couldn't care less if it's LSU, ND, or anyone else.

I guess him signing a new contract and the Assistant Head Coach title means he still wants to leave. The audacity of the saints to make him sign that contract.

You couldn’t be more wrong. I graduated from another university in LA and couldn’t be a bigger LSU fan. I know of many other family and friends that feel the same way. I pull for both universities, it is possible.

No, what pisses me off is Payton doesn’t block all these other coaches that are leaving but decides to all of sudden play hardball with LSU.

No more Brees, not signing LSU players for years, and this move by Saints hurting LSU...I am no more a fan. All done.

The move of forcing him to take a promotion, raise, and possibly be D-Coordinator in waiting for the franchise?

The horror!

It’s not just today. It’s having Alabama coaches visit Saints Defensive coaches before they play LSU for the National Championship. It’s Sean Payton giving a pre game speech to a little sisters of the poor team before they play LSU. It’s having LSU players on the draft board at positions of Saints need and them passing those players up. It’s ownership cussing Tiger Stadium attendants out when his team is borrowing Tiger Stadium after Katrina. There is ugly history between LSU and the Saints. I don’t know where it went south but to hell with them. GEAUX TIGERS

Maybe that pill popping SOB organization can go help some more child molesters.

I don’t disagree with this outlook.

This is more laughing at the op because he’s upset the Saints aren’t enthusiastic about losing a valued coach to an in-state college program.

Maybe we can just choose which Season Tickets we Really What ... Because I see Trouble on the Way... And If I had to Pick , the Saints tickets can go as for as Im concern. Hijacking a Coach from bettering himself , Nice move. Really Makes other Quility Coaches want to come to New Orleans.

I Really wonder if they would have the GUTS to Do this to Saban .... I really think Not.

What did the English language do to deserve this attack?

Well, guess it means he didn't really want to leave.

Still doesn't change the fact that if he had wanted to, he could.

lsuinma

And what exactly do you know about the English language ?

A personal attack ? Dude you probably have nothing else to offer the conversation.

Why not regroup and think of something constructive to say Einstein.

Now to the subject, I feel both parties are wrong in this situation.

1- LSU should have done more in advance to securing him as a candidate, and not release any information before knowing you have the right to talk to Nielsen. LSU did not give Payton a courtesy call to request an interview with Nielsen. CEO has a 2 strike count on the new DC offers. Now the pressures on!!

2- New Orleans seems to pick and chose who they play hardball with. You can't blame a coach wanting to making advancements in his career. I do understand the Saints wanting to hold on to quality coaches. But, if Payton knew he wasn't letting Ryan Nielsen out of his contract, he could have easliy made that call to CEO. All things said, I do believe Sean Payton has a issue with LSU.
