From TigerFred, who is not bullshitting:
quote:

Two independent sources have confirmed of the private dining event where Saban and Sexton had lunch last Wednesday with an LSU contingent at local restaurant.

Saban may not want to coach again but he is most certainly involved in this search.

This was two Wednesdays ago...Restaurant was in the New Orleans area...and everyone who attended had ability to slip into this restaurant unnoticed by the masses.

I actually think it's more believable if Saban were to guide Verge away from hiring Lane

I know for a Fact LSU is paying Saban 1 million as a consulting fee and 500k if Kiffin is hired as a “finders fee”.

This is absolute bullshite. Saban is on payroll at Bama.

He may have helped Kiffin work through options on a personal level as a friend, but he didn’t help LSU. Major conflict of interest there.

I feel the same about Lane being the next LSU HC.

Saban pretty much gave it away on Gameday when he was the only one on set to defend us.

He was defending a fellow coach while on a stage with a bunch of former players

Let's think about this...

Saban regrets leaving LSU

Lane is same age as when Saban took LSU job

He could definitely tell Lane to go to LSU and retire there, if he doesn't act like an idiot

No one knows wtf is going on right now. That includes Muscona. It’s all speculation and the ones saying Lane is coming are just wish casting.

Vern says he talks to Saban every two weeks and has a great relationship with Sexton.

Didnt Verge say he talks to Saban pretty much every week anyways.

It would also be stupid not to consult one of, if not, greatest of all time college football coaches. Paid or not, BS or not, you still give him a chance to speak.

This makes complete sense given Verge said he talks to Saban on a regular basis

Its kinda like an emeritus thing. Mostly a Thank You for your services

Heres what Nick himself said about the job
quote:

It's our community," he said. "We're going to continue to do things to help the community every way that we can. The coaches all know that I'm available if they need me in any way, shape, or form to help them."

emeritus: is an honorary title granted to someone who retires from a position of distinction, most commonly a faculty position. It is used when a person of distinction in a profession retires or hands over the position.

His salary is $500,000.04 a year, and he is allowed to seek outside employment. So if he goes on Gameday and says Georgia will beat Bama, he cant be sued for his 'stance' against his employer

I believe Saban was a paid consultant for coach search so he was part of LSU braintrust with candidates

This. He is NOT on Bama’s athletic payroll. Bama has way more than enough endowment to pay him $500K
