re: Rumors about Mike Leach

Mike used to do his radio show on sirius from his house or boat. They would ask him about games and he wouldn’t even know who the home team was, but then would make great quips. I used to call in all the time and loved talking to him, and would purposefully get him completely off track for fun. He knows something about everything. He is really the most interesting coach in football because I don’t even think he likes football

Yeah that cough has sounded awful lately. Mullen did a historically good job at State, despite what people say.

I love the Pirate. Always have.
One of the most unique voices is college football history. Texas Tech did him wrong and he deserved way better. He wrote a book that I'll one day get around to reading.
I hope the rumors about his health are just that. Rumors.
College football needs Mike Leach. I hope he coaches into retirement and becomes a commentator. I bet he'd be hilarious.

Mullen inherited a steaming pile of shite from Croom.
If this is everyone’s gauge on how great Mullen was and is what convinced Florida to hire him then, well,

He inherited several future NFL players when he walked on campus. Croom suuucked at actual coaching.. but he left a viable football team.

I hope that Leach recovers quickly, but if this is all true, he'll be fun to have in a booth or studio.
I'd rather see Leach start podcasting so he doesn't have to filter himself as much.

No doubt. That 2010 defense was stout as hell.

Chadwell was the coach at North Greenville and doing very well.
He left UNG for Delta State. He stayed there one season. Word was that part of his leaving was that his family was not happy there and wanted to go back to South Carolina.
An SEC salary can rent a lot of happiness, but he's making $2 million at Coastal. He's not hurting.

I’ve been hearing more rumors about this Leach health situation.
Multiple Twitter accounts hinting that this news is about to come out.

I would like to see Leach post on TD

What makes you think he doesn’t already?

One of my best customers is in Cleveland, MS, so I spend a lot of time down in the delta working. I can’t say I blame Chadwell, though. I’m ok going down for a few days to work, but it’s another thing living there.
Whatever you think about MS, a lot of other places in the state are A LOT nicer than the delta. Starkville is definitely not the same at Cleveland, especially with an exponentially higher paycheck.

Comparing Starkville to Cleveland is like comparing Shanghai to New Orleans.

Mullen inherited a steaming pile of shite from Croom. State had 1 winning season in the 8 years before Mullen got there. After his first season, he then proceeded to take State to 8 straight bowl games. He had 3 top 15 finishes before tanking his fourth season at UF. He's not a bad coach.
You have to forgive smoe of our fans, they have a tendency to try and trash Mullen to prop up Leach's results (which aren't bad). They simply think Leach is already better than Mullen and will drag him through the mud to prove it. I've even seen people go as far to say that Croom left Mullen a gold mine.

But Mullen did have miss st ranked #1. That was one thing I never thought I’d see. It’s hard to discount what he did in his time there

This is true.
2010 NFL draft - 2 Schtate selectees
2011 NFL draft - 4 Schtate selectees (including a first round tackle and three guys who started for 8+ seasons)
2012 NFL draft - 3 Schtate selectees (including future hall of famer Fletcher Cox, who committed to State in May 2018, long before Croom was fired)

The real reason State was ranked #1 in 2014 was because they beat #8 LSU, #6 Texas A&M, and #2 Auburn consecutive weeks. All three of those teams finished 8-5 and only Auburn finished ranked (at #22 in the AP poll). Their ranking was a fraud. They lost three of their last 4 games, including an Egg Bowl to an Ole Miss team that was reeling and absolutely decimated with injuries.
