Health reasons

quote:

In the last 48 hours, rumors have started flying about the future of Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach as well.

What I am hearing is that Leach may possibly resign due to some health issues. To be honest, he has not looked very good lately and has had a noticeable bad cough. This is all merely speculation at this point and I do not know anything concrete.

I truly hope Mike Leach's health is fine. He is a an American treasure of a character and would be sorely missed in college football. The last thing anyone wants is for him to get sick. John Cohen, the athletic director who hired Leach at State just went to Auburn as well and was a big part of his support system.

Mullen back to Starkville?

Yeah that cough has sounded awful lately. Mullen did a historically good job at State, despite what people say.

I think this is just a rumor that took off from a message board BUT he was in the hospital a couple of days a few weeks ago

That rumor has been hanging around for a couple days now. If I'm State, and it's true, my list (not in any order) would probably be like:

Mullen
Prime Time (not sure he's ready but would definitely bring excitement)
Kane Wommack
Chadwell
Curt Cignetti

If Mullen is ever allowed back to MSU I am out. It’s like in the last 5 years everyone has forgotten how shitty he was. Leach has beaten more ranked teams in three years than Mullen did in 10

State should first offer 11-12M for Kiffin until he says no.

Come on man. Cousin Eddie spent 5-6 years building from dirt. Unfair comparison in my opinion but I’m not a MSU fan.

If coach prime ends up at ole miss or miss state we will all be playing for second place. Might as well start following tennis

If for no other reason than to make Ole Miss spend even more to keep him

Deion could be a problem at State. They have never been able to make a major move in recruiting, but he’s got the kind of hype and charisma that could change that if he proves he can win there. He would have to absolutely nail the staff, but I could see it.

Matt Barrie and Finebaum both hinted as much about Deion at state.

There is a coach available who:
Coached for a Natty.
Has never won fewer than 6 games.
Has won 8+ in 9 of 11 seasons.

Gus is the best HC available, send him over and who the hell cares if it’s splashy or not.

He wouldn't be any better than Kiffin is at Ole Miss. There is a ceiling at those two schools.

Would be the perfect State coach

his offense would be a pain in the arse to deal with in the middle of an SEC schedule.

I hope that Leach recovers quickly, but if this is all true, he'll be fun to have in a booth or studio.
