He didn’t stay unemployed for long.

He's a good coach.

Jones should have tried to get him in Dallas. He'll regret that hire (depending on the GM).

I guess he's a good coach, but his team completely unraveled this year, and that's often an ominous sign.

They unraveled way more after he left, if you want to look at it that way.

Solid hire and quite frankly the best the Redskins could hope for.

They weren't going to beat out other NFL teams for any new hot young OC or college coach.

Tomlin's name was floated around when Gruden was fired but those were only rumors and that was before he turned the ship around in the 2nd half of the season.

Marvin Lewis' name was also in the running. Glad that didn't happen.

It was still his fault, he promoted DC's from within the last few years and Eric Washington was his " Lou Tepper". EW is not fit to be a DC and that move eventually lost the team since the D was so lost.

Coaches expire and Ron's time came. It was his stubbornness that did it.

Also, to address your unraveling more after he left comment- Of course it did, Ron surrounded himself with bad coaches and when he was gone, we all got to see how incompetent they all are. Ron was the best and worst thing for the team.

Retread hire of an average coach. Look at his record. Look at his accomplishments. He’s by no means a bad coach but he’s average and loved by the talking heads because he’s a former player and good man

They started 6-2 in 2018 too and only beat a Saints team that already had HFA in the 2nd half of the season.

They quit on him with and without Cam Newton.

His teams have almost always been feast or famine.

i think thats a great match for him

hes not a guy that needs the spotlight and ownership likes the spotlight much like jerry

i think he would have been in the playoffs next year if he went to the browns, its insane they didnt give him a blank check to come there, or maybe the toxic ownership there was the problem

Typical Redskins hire. Overpay for the biggest name out there (never mind if he’s overrated). This won’t end well. Until the Redskins change at the critical owner position, they will continue to be a bad organization that gets to the playoffs once every five or six years.

This accurately sums it up. At least the Redskins finally got rid of Allen.

Why didn't they hire him earlier? They fired Gruden midseadon and Rivera was available midseason. Is there a rule that they had to wait?

That's what I mean. The Washington job was already open and Rivera was already available.

Rivera wasn’t not available mid season and Gruden was fired early

Makes no sense to hire him with 4 games left in a year

or are you saying the browns ownership situation isnt a toxic ownership?
