or are you saying the browns ownership situation isnt a toxic ownership?

I’m saying both the Browns and the Redskins are toxic ownership situations. If anything the Redskins are even more toxic. So I’d go ahead and say that ownership was not a part of the decision

Indeed. Big rumor is Rivera will have a big say in who gets to be the next GM and will have much more autonomy running the team than other coaches.

TBD if that’s true or not but if Snyder finally learns to be hands off this could turn out well for the Skins.

Ryan Clark spoke on it yesterday that Snyder has been pretty hands off the last few years

The problem was he gave Allen full control

And he fricked everything up

3 good years out of 9 years with winning records. Fell short more often than not.

One good playoff run in all that time. A 4th playoff appearance only because of how bad the NFC South was, as they got in at 7-8-1.

He’s an okay coach, but it’s typical NFL retread. It’s only worked out really with Belichick and Carroll in recent years.

New Washington HC Ron Rivera has hired former Raiders’ and Jaguars’ HC Jack Del Rio as the Redskins’ new defensive coordinator, per source. Rivera’s first big coaching hire in Washington.

It is getting pretty exciting. Lots of moves to be made still. Team is going to have a ton to spend in FA (50M+). That is before they make decisions on Williams, Norman, Moses, Kerrigan, plus the whole A. Smith thing..

I really hope they bring in a great cap guy and scout, that can find us some gems. Need to get rid of Williams. I want some one young and ambitious with some revolutionary ideas. Whoever it is will certainly by working under Rivera. So it needs to be someone that understands his vision..

That's what I mean. The Washington job was already open and Rivera was already available.

Because if the Redskins kept sucking, it would make things harder on everyone immediately.

Now he gets the clean slate of the offseason.

Alternatively, maybe Bruce Allen didn't want him or Rivera wanted to make sure Allen was gone before he signed up with Washington.

He’s not a bad coach. But this is another example of the NFL recycling coaches.
