Rivals: Harbaugh is "definitively" top choice; Michigan vetting Butch Jones

Brent Hubbs of Rivals
quote:

Michigan clearly wants Jim Harbaugh, and he will have to definitively and emphatically tell them no. Harbaugh's situation is unusual in that he might be traded at the end of the year if he stays in the NFL. Not having control of where you land is a concern obviously for Harbaugh, according to sources.

If it's not Harbaugh then the Michigan search will get interesting and Butch Jones' name will show up more in discussions.

Dave Hart has made it clear that Butch is his guy and that they are working on an extension and a raise. There is no agreement at this point, which is not surprising given Jones' travels and the season just ending. But we know from sources in Michigan, Knoxville and in the ACC that Michigan's interest in Jones is legitimate, and the Wolverines have been vetting Jones.

@wesrucker247: Not rumors. Michigan and Butch have mutual interest on some level. Known.

Why do writers keep confirming that Harbaugh is the top choice. If he wasn't the top choice the AD should be fired on the spot.

Problem is he's not a realistic choice

It's pretty sad that we have gotten to this point in college football. If I told my boss out of the 24 deals I had a chance to close, I only finished 11 of them, I would probably be fired, not given an extension and a raise.

Its amazing how it seems more prevelant now a days that coaches throw their hat in the ring to get raises/extensions and the hire almost always ends up not living up to the billing

Michigan hires Butch and then the Coaching Changes board really gets fun.

That is a very valid point....hell he might get traded to Buffalo. He is currently making $5M......maybe he takes a little less to coach Michigan and waits until a better NFL job opens up.

It was reported yesterday on 97.1 in Detroit that Harbaugh wants 7-8mil/year ,then add 2 mil for staff. On the same program Butch Jones was discussed briefly. Money alums want a Michigan Man not a Central Michigan Man.

If Butch Jones was to already leave Tennessee, I would ALMOST feel bad for that school and its fans.
