Its amazing how it seems more prevelant now a days that coaches throw their hat in the ring to get raises/extensions and the hire almost always ends up not living up to the billing
+1

Are you paying attention ? you were taken once..are you going to do it again?

Because it isn't
They're both pretty equal but UT gets the edge because it's in the south. Better weather, better recruits, better conference, better facilities. The draw for Jones is because hes from MI. It would be the chance to go home.

Why would Butch leave Tennessee for Michigan?
This is what people aren't thinking about obviously. Michigan will get a coach but he will not come from the best most lucrative conference period. No SEC coach would leave to go to a big whatever school period.

That is a very valid point....hell he might get traded to Buffalo. He is currently making $5M......maybe he takes a little less to coach Michigan and waits until a better NFL job opens up.
Disagree. Nobody is "trading" for him without his consent. He either signs an extension with 49ers (doubtful), agrees to a "trade" to a mutually acceptable other team, or is fired, although I doubt they call it that given his success. He's not going to coach college football because of uncertainty over which NFL teams line up to pay him and give him personnel control.

I disagree. Remember ,You are talking about Les Miles, who marches to the beat of His own drummer. Miles ,I don't believe, will let Jim Hackett flounder around looking for a coach. Miles and Hackett have known each other for years, and they were teammates. I dont think Miles would turn Hackett down if Hackett calls Les and tells Him that Michigan needs Him. Also remember, Miles is on record saying "He owes Michigan". These guys are old school and loyalty means everything.

I agree with you on the loyalty point. Also, the Michigan 247 board keeps repeating that those who are close to Les say he would take the job. I really hope not. Not what LSU needs now.

i hope we pay him $5 mill a year. he is worth it.

Look forward to paying Butch's buyout for the next 10 years when we fall flat next year. Butch is possibly the worst coach in this conference. He struggled to beat a craptastic Vandy squad. His only good win was last year's South Carolina, and even then, South Carolina crapped the bed more than UT winning it.
Ok, that's the negative side of me. On the positive, recruiting rankings and at least we tackle now.
