Riley's defection actually makes it more likely "insiders" were truthfully sharing info

Pause and actually think about it for a moment.
It is indisputable now that Riley wanted to leave OU.
There is no question he and his agent were having secret meetings during the season.
There is little doubt that he and his agent would have entertained multiple suitors to maximize leverage.
A pretty clear picture emerges: Riley talks to LSU. LSU offers. LSU thinks it will hire Riley. Information leaks to recruits and some close to the program. Dellinger flies to Bedlam to cover the story. Riley uses the LSU offer as leverage to improve the USC offer, and to give himself options. Riley chooses USC. LSU is left at the altar. Dellinger reports that Riley chose USC over LSU (not that LSU never offered).
This is a completely plausible sequence of events that accords with human conduct and a thousand similar situations in the history of coaching searches. Anything else is an illogical contortion predicated on notions of nefarious conspiracies or coincidental mass delusion.

Except for the part where those “insiders” said the deal was done and SIGNED.

There is really no such thing, though. A candidate can back out at any time before the announcement. Paper means nothing. Even if Riley signed a written document, what stopped him from backing out?

Makes perfect sense really. I bet Woodward is pissed. USC is a dumpster fire.

People need to quit defending these so called insiders. They know nothing more than anyone else.

He better have a good alternate plan. Everything hangs on that now.

Nah, my guess is he gained at least 5 more pounds since Wednesday.

More like Riley made plans to gtfo of OU when he heard about the SEC move. He probably immediately targeted USC because everyone knew Helton was done. Then he used LSU and any other program with deep pockets to increase the price as much as he could at USC.

Riley was never coming to LSU. He played both OU and LSU to get out of coaching in the SEC. The Big 12 is soft, and the PAC 12 is even softer. Riley is a fraud who's perfect for LA.

Bingo.
Riley comes out of this looking like he's scared and running from the SEC. Sure, USC is a historic job, but so is OU. You don't leave jobs like OU, normally.
